great setting and it was a spur of the moment that we stopped for lunch here as we usually go somewhere else. was left very disappointed. service was very slow, food quality was poor. only redeeming feature was the setting. would not come back again. incidentally, the family agreed!

First time and never go back there again. Waste of time and money. We ordered our food at 6:30pm and 45 minutes later we were told that one of the meals we ordered is not available. Our meal arrived at 7:30 pm.

Joint birthday treat for myself and my partner; gorgeous setting, well-run and comfy room with adequate mod-cons. Highlight - the main restaurant. Amazing evening meals and fantastic service -food was incredible and the chef knows a thing or two, to put it mildly. Lovely view of the cathedral too in the evening. Wish we had had more time in Salisbury but would dearly love to return. The Mill would definitely be on our list for a re-visit.

We had a drink at this pub at the weekend and weren't very impressed. When I was ordering I nearly put my arm in a big wet patch on the bar. The table indoors could have done with a wipe over and when we moved outside the table had sugar all over it. The pub wasn't very busy either so plenty of time to clean tables. My husband wasn't very impressed with his pint and the wine was quite expensive too. My daughter ordered some pancakes and ice cream and there was hardly any maple syrup on the pancakes and they were quite dry. It's a nice looking pub on the exterior and pleasant to sit outside but we wouldn't go there again.

Setting the scene: a Saturday evening in August - nice hot day - group of 8 diners.

On arrival - big sign on door saying no hot drinks as machine was broken (OK, we didn't want any hot drinks but thanks for the advance notice !!). Firstly we weren't allowed to sit where we wanted as this had been reserved for a bigger party later on in the evening. Sent up to top floor where we were unable to find seating together as a group (a couple had to sit on their own table for two). On perusing the extensive menu we all made our choices (we wanted to pay separately). An order for two was taken successfully (they had us now) - the next order was unavailable (no lasagne); the next order was unavailable (no steak) NOTE TO MANAGER: If you don't have food available that you are advertising you should make it clear to customers ON ARRIVAL so an informed choice can be made about whether to eat there or not BEFORE drinks orders are taken and BEFORE selections are made. What was going to be left for the poor bigger party later on in the evening ?? (unless of course the restaurant was holding back the unavailable menu items for them ????). To top it all the yorkshire pudding wraps arrived without horseradish sauce - POOR SHOW THE MILL
