Owner description: St Thomas’s Church. A welcome in the heart of the city Dating mostly from the Fifteenth Century, the Church of St Thomas a Becket stands in its own square at the north end of Salisbury High Street, a two-minute walk from the Cathedral Close. This has been a place of worship since the early Thirteenth Century. Please come in for a look round. Try to spot the “damned bishop” being led to Hell in the famous Doom painting. Or why not try counting all 250 angels on the roof, walls and pillars? There is full disabled access to all public areas of the church with ramps and an automatic door. Quiet, boisterous, contemplative, social: it’s always a good time to drop in to St Thomas’s. We’d be happy to meet you whenever you can stop by.

“Good Place to Visit”
Reviewed January 15, 2014 via mobile

Went to visit my family and friends in Salisbury. We got time to enter into the church. Weather was not that good even we liked the historical information and stoney gate as well.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

Medieval paintings still survive in the south aisle. Well worth a visit and very close to the Red Lion and the Cathedral.

“Christmas Tree Festival”
Reviewed December 5, 2013

Enjoyed the Christmas Tree Festival. The Church was full of Christmas trees decorated by local organisations. Wonderful atmosphere. Saw the Doom painting. Very dramatic.

“Constable also painted St Thomas's”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

What strikes you about St Thomas's is the amazing light and airy feel inside and the late mediaeval Doom Painting. It is only about 200 m from the cathedral and is well worth the effort. There is an excellent cafe outside the West entrance.

“don't miss the opportunity ...”
Reviewed September 21, 2013 via mobile

... To visit this old church as wellas the cathedral. Many unique features including a large wall painting from medieval times. The folk were very welcoming and helpful. Good written guides in strategic places add to the interpretation.
