“Lovely little pub. Great beer.”

Had a great Sunday lunch, decent beef, decent beer and a lovely old pub. Not too crowded, good ambiance. Didn't have time for dessert, but definitely next time.

“Memorable meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

We recently enjoyed a great evening meal at the Plough. Scallops on a bed of linguini. Done to perfection. The staff was attentive & courteous. A nice bottle of South African wine. Some lemon tart & coffee to finish. Highly recommended.

“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

I highly recommend this fabulous country pub. Had lunch with my girlfriend and her family here, food was exceptional, drinks well priced and the couple running the pub were extremely welcoming. Pub is full of intriguing decorations with a fantastic garden at the front, perfect for both days of the English summer. Our waiter was cheeky but managed not to spill anything and kept the table amused. We caught the landlord in a very cheery mood and managed to wangle a free round, can't complain at that, worth listening to his jokes for a free beer! Will certainly be visiting again.

“A great welcome and delicious food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

If you're looking for both of the above then look no further than the Silver Plough, a ndelightful village pub with excellent food only a few minutes putside Salisbury. Stephen and Sue, and their friendly staff, go out of their way to make their customers welcome and the food is consistently delicious. We ate there on Friday evening, the most delicious scallops in the best bisque ever, a wonderful new confit of duck recipe and a really flavoursome vegetarian dish based on a courgette cake with goat's cheese and butternut squash, truly a cut above the usual vegetarian offering. To follow there was a lovely selection of puddings, the ginger and lime cheesecake was gorgeous and the cheese would be great to share.

Whilst my husband enjoys the beautifully kept beers, I really appreciate the well chosen wines served in the Plough's beautiful balloon glasses, which really makes a difference. A really enjoyable meal with great flavours and great value too. Thank you to everyone at the Silver Plough.

“Great pub lunch in a lovely location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

On the day we visited the weather was typical of 2013 - wet, cold, overcast. So the welcoming and cheerful interior of this traditional pub was an antidote that raised the spirits. The food was good and the bar offered proper draught beer from local breweries. Only 15 minutes from Salisbury and a big car park - easy to visit and I will be back.
