let down by the food. We're local to the pub and it is a lovely spot. The Landlord has a lovely greeting for customers and makes one feel most welcome. Beer is kept well. Unfortunately the chef is letting the side down a little at the moment; the food needs to be better than it is. Our party of three had fish and chips x 2 and Caesar salad. The F&C was very weak indeed; chips were soft and fat soaked and generally poor flavour throughout. The salad was "sparse" and needed greater variety of ingredients and volume. This pub deserves to succeed, management must simply pay a little more attention to food. Good luck to them.

Went to the Silver Plough last night and although the welcome was good from the landlord the food was very poor. They were not busy and food did not take long to arrive but the standard was very disappointing. I had the Chicken Ceaser Salad as a main which was a lump of chicken and very few leaves, dressing was minimal and pretty tasteless. My companions both had the fish and chips which were 'poor to ordinary', with chips overcooked. Chef really lets the place down. Positive was the weather which allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the garden area. Not sure we would go back unless we heard that things had really improved.

Visited with friends for the first time since the new management took over.Very friendly welcome and attentive staff, the only problem was there were not enough of them! There were two young men to man the Bar and serve the meals with help from the Landlord from time to time which resulted in the two men being rushed off their feet and forgetting some of the basics like providing cutlery for main course and puddings. The food was generally good but some items on the menu are overpriced for the quality offered.ie the shared platter starter and the overpriced and tiny ribeye which though ordered medium rare arrived cooked medium also keep an eye on the draught beer which was constantly short measured even after asking the glasses to be topped up the first time!
All in all a pleasant country pub with mostly good food a warm welcome which disappoints occassionally due to a lack attention to detail and understaffing.

We returned after reviews suggested it was greatly improved. Unfortunately this was not the case. The food was very average. eg liver overcooked, steak pie- not a pie at all, vegetarian option virtually uneatable. However on plus side we all enjoyed the starters.

Since the new management took over the Plough, this is our sixth visit. It gets better and better. The courgette cake has become a firm favourite, though the fish and meat dishes are much appreciated too. It is very nice to see this beautiful pub in its idyllic location coming into its own once again. The garden on a summer's evening is quite lovely, but a couple of weeks ago when we took an overseas visitor on a rainy night, we were where indoors where its old-world charm and artifacts provide a great atmosphere - and a welcome fire in winter. The new host is unfailingly welcoming - you feel like an invited guest, not a visitor.
