Description: Balti House restaurants are modern “Eat As Much As You Like For a Fixed Price” Our restaurants are designed along clean, modern lines where diners can enjoy Indian cuisine in a stylish atmosphere at an affordable price. Starters, main courses, and desserts are included in the fixed price. Diners can choose from as many as 30 dinner dishes offering culinary delights from the Far East - you will be spoilt for choice. We are the first Indian Buffet bar restaurant in Salisbury and we proud to serve you.Buffets are effective for serving large numbers of people at once. For this reason, they are prevalent in institutional settings, such as business conventions or large parties. Another advantage of buffets compared to table service is that diners have a great deal of choice and the ability to closely inspect food before selecting it. Since a buffet involves diners serving themselves, it has in the past been considered an informal form of dining, less formal than table service. In recent years, however, buffet dinners are increasingly popular. My wife and I went to the Balti House with an optimistic outlook and were very pleasantly surprised at the standard of the food in the buffet. The Beef Vindaloo and Lamb Madras were very tasty and although I prefer my Indian food hotter they would have been just right for anyone who likes Indian but does'nt want their socks blown off, other dishes that were very good were the Chicken Korai and my wife said the chicken Korma was also excellent (she does'nt normally eat Kormas prefering spicier food but tried it out of curiosity). The food was fresh and was re stocked regularly. It was nice that you could view the kitchen which looked very clean and organised.

I have to agree with the reviewer who wrote that the Balti House is not for a curry connoisseur, only in so much as being a buffet the choice is more limited than a standard restaurant, however the take away menu looks excellent and if the food is as good as the buffet then it should rank as one of the best Indian takeaways in Salisbury.

At £9.50 for as much as you can eat it was very good value, the staff were extremely friendly and curteous all in all a very pleasant experience which I would repeat - I am now looking forward to trying some things from the takeaway menu.

Went on a Tuesday evening. Service was fantastic. Curries were great and although limited in range (as it is a buffet) included mains of chicken korma, chicken tikka masala, beef vindaloo, chicken korai, lamb madras, sides of Bombay aloo, chickpea curry, starters of chicken tikka, chicken lollipop, chicken pakora, vegetable bhaji and onion bhaji, papadoms, naans, pilau and plain rice as well as side salad and fruit. The food was some of the best curry I have had from salisbury without the pomp and show of hox brasserie or annoka. Their take away menu looks great and far more varied so will be one for us to try next. Being a frequent traveller to India and having been so disappointed by other Indian restaurants in salisbury I was very pleasantly surprised by our dining experience at the balti house this evening and we will definitely go back again.

If you not a fan of Indian and just want to try lots of different curries then this would be great for you! However if your a connoisseur then this is NOT the place. The buffet had the standard Korma, Tikka Massala and Vindaloo but nothing a bit different and the spices/flavours weren't amazing either as was the meat. However I'm glad we went to try and price is very good. It was nice to try different starters and have a choice of mains and puddings but I think next time we may try somewhere different.
