“Customer Service Zero”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

Went there Sunday night for a family drink on my birthday , we had been out to dinner elsewhere and arrived about 10 pm. when we arrived we had to find someone to serve us , they were all chatting in the kitchen ! i was with my elderly parents and my sisters and there husbands , we wanted to know the strength of the beers , the 2 young ladies behind the bar had no idea. We ordered 3 pints of the HB lager it was undrinkable , should think it was either "off " or the beer lines had not been cleaned for sometime ! they did however change them without comment. We sat at the end of the bar , and when i heard the bell i assumed it was for last orders , in fact it was the time bell , i went straight to the bar , but there was no one there , eventually one of the young ladies came to the bar , Iexplained that i had not heard the first bell , would it be possible to get a drink because it was a special occassion , she asked this young chap who i assume was the manager, he came over and said no , which i thought was fair enough , it was a bit much though when he poured someone else a drink and said they were a "resident" and wished me happy birthday ! I will never go there again !

Six of us have just experienced the fantastic New Inn. Toby and his staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. We all felt at home. The inn serves good food and beer and is clean and warm. If you are visiting Salisbury this is an ideal place to stay, well within walking distance of the cathedral and shopping centre.

This is a deceptively roomy Inn with a range of seating areas including an excellent garden, They serve a pleasing menu which includes smaller less expensive portions which is a good innovation. The views of the Cathedral are gorgeous and the staff, especially the manager, is always cheerful and helpful. A great pub.

Absolutely charming: welcoming and helpful staff, delicious food, lovely garden, breakfast outside with a view on the Cathedral was an absolute enchantment, and the rooms make you travel back to the 15 th century with all the modern conveniences as a bonus. The bathroom amenities are lovely, the complimentary coffee and tea tray couldn't get any better. Definitely going back next time!! Keep up the good work.

Close to the centre and the cathedral - views of the upper part of the cathedral from the large, attractive garden. Plenty of seating inside and outdoors.

Lovely atmospheric interior, especially in the bar on the street side of the building.

Badger beers; Hopping Hare was fine but would have liked to see more imaginative selection - perhaps from the local Hop Back brewery. Another reviewer said the inn has its own brewed ales but I didn't see these and they weren't pointed out to me when I asked what they had.

Food was first rate: Thai fish cakes with a chilli dipping sauce and steak pie with a mustard short crust pastry were excellent. They made a mistake in bringing a small pie in place of the ordered large pie but it was still sufficient for a smaller appetite.

Good and friendly service.

This is a beautiful old pub with a splendid garden with views of Salisbury Cathedral. Inside there are original features and lots of different places to sit and eat or drink. It is a pub, but one that serves food of a very high standard.

There are some original dishes, like chorizo scothch eggs, home made fish fingers and the chicken burgers use chicken breast filets, not reconstituted pap.

We only wanted a light meal, so ordered a selection of starters and small portions, all were excellent and served in an modern and innovative manner.

This is a gastro pub but withoout any of the pretentions. Staff were polite and helpful and despite the pub being packed oin a sunny saturday lunchtime, service was good and reasonable given the fact that all the food was freshly cooked.
