We picked the Inn based on location and reviews. Salisbury charmed us and the friendly staff at the Inn caused us to fall in love. Rachell and staff treated us royally. The food was a nice surprise too. We loved the atmosphere of the pub and the garden. It was a very busy spot and clearly a local favorite. It was a little hard that the bathroom, while private was across the hall. It certainly wouldn't stop me from going back again.

As occasional visitors to Salisbury, we thought we'd try somewhere on spec. The first one to catch our eye was the New Inn. After a rather special pint of Badger we asked for accomodation. Unfortunately they were full and apologised for it? Not a problem we thought, however the young lady behind the bar and the manager (Toby I think) started discussing and ringing around, eventually finding us a place to stay, which was fine. Out of decency we felt we should go bak to the New Inn. What a good move. The food was exceptional and as there was a slight delay in service, the manager offered us free coffee AND a drink. Large red wine and double malt! Worth the wait for the food and very reasonably priced. Relaxing in the pretty, landscaped (by the manager), walled garden, we sat under the patio heaters and chatted to the manger and manageress. So welcoming and social. We will be back to stay next time and recommend you try this little characterful gem. Thanks!

I booked for Sunday lunch with my parents and turned up to a relaxed atmosphere where all seemed calm...HOWEVER it took over 10 minutes to get acknowledged so I was not best impressed...the table was fine but an American guy next to us was asking for a refund on his food for some reason and having been kept waiting I was not surprised...I asked the bar staff if food was on schedule and was told there was a big party coming in and they were prepping but it should be ok... the land lady was more preoccupied with sorting the imminent party and food took well over half an hour which considering it was the sunday roast was not really on...the food when it did arrive was BETTER than expected which was great but the overwhelming feel was that they were more interested in the party and we were in the way so we didn't risk having to wait for a pudding..I did tell Toby that although the food was good the service was appalling and was immediately offered complimentary puddings..we declined but on that basis for me he saved the day and I would give them a second chance...JUST SHARPEN UP the service cos the food was good

Rachell & Toby thank you so much for our wonderful day and night...Also thanks to Anna for our tour of the church. The food was wonderful, the company was great, the beds comfortable..Although Paul did hit his head..You warned him Rachell. Sorry we couldn't stay longer. If we come back to the UK we will stay longer. A very clean, inviting little pub with lots of character....We will be back....Also I need your email address to keep in contact. Sharron & Paul Judge from Australia....

A great little find!

We took a trip to salisbury for a day visit on a busy saturday, so after giving up the option of a quick lunch, we headed back to the car park, only to pass this quirky little pub offering food with a view.

Starving from the long walk around the catherdal, we thought "give it a go" and really pleased we did. Nice little pub, very small inside with beams. Food menu, good although limited vegetarian options and not cheap... £6.95 for jacket potatoe with beans & cheese.

Once food ordered and woodern spoon in hand, we headed for the gorgeous garden with views of the catherdal and blessed with a sunny day in March.

Staff attentive and food okay, what you would expect from a traditional pub.

My only grip is the wait for the food, after saying "No bacon" on my jacket spud, it came out with strips of bacon, covered in cheese and beans. Quick to remedy and brought out in no time... Just hope that had not just removed the bacon from the original. :-)

However, I am a fussy vegetarian. Not the end of the world and didn't tarnish, the service or great views.

Nice overall pub, worth a visit if not for the ales, food and views.

Finding the new Inn on our travels through England was the best thing to happen to us . besides the great building ., location , garden area and food ... the people there really make it great . The staff the owners which have already been mentioned as such nice hosts in other reviews on here . Its all true . It was indeed a pleasure to stay there and to be so welcomed , we felt like family . This place was everything I had imagined a trip England would be like :)

I called from the US as we planned a UK holiday, after reading rave reviews of the New Inn, and booked our room.
We had driven all over south England and needed a peaceful spot for our last five days. Karen and Colin welcomed us like family. We ate outstanding food, slept in a peaceful and comfortable room, and met many new friends.
The New Inn is a perfect mix of medieval architecture, gourmet food, great long afternoon pub conversations, and a totally relaxed and peaceful home away from home. We left reluctantly, with hugs and promises to return. To stay in Karen and Colin's home is a privilege, and one not to be missed.
It's worth the trip to Salisbury just to stay there-and the view of the lit cathedral spire from the back garden at night made us giddy at our good fortune to have found it.
Thanks and love to the Murphy's for having us-we will see you next year.
