Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Discover nearly 800 years of history, including Britain's tallest spire, the world's best preserved original Magna Carta 1215 and Europe's oldest working clock, on a free tour with one of our knowledgable volunteer guides. Built between 1220 and 1258 in one architectural style, Salisbury is Britain's finest 13th century Gothic Cathedral. With over 70,000 tons of medieval craftsmanship to admire there is plenty to see, do and learn at Salisbury Cathedral. Ideally we suggest you allow between 1.5 - 3 hours for your visit but you can see most of the highlights in 45 minutes if you are really pressed for time. For the ultimate experience we recommend you take in the breathtaking views of our tower tour (approximately 90 minutes) followed by a floor tour with one of our knowledgeable guides (one hour), finishing with evensong. Alternatively, you can explore the Cathedral at your own pace with our free printed guides. Our interactive Magna Carta exhibition is not to be missed!

Its hard to mark this down as it is what it is. Maybe the price is a bit steep but they're obviously making use of the money.
Magna Carta had a bit of a queue but it moved quickly enough (don't bother wating otherwise, its nothing special).
The font is very impressive and they'd done some interesting things with the decoration.

If you're in Salisbury then you have to visit the cathedral and see the Magna Carta. Take a stroll through the cloisters, try the tea-rooms and just soak up the atmosphere. What a wonder.

Salisbury Cathedral is simply magnificent. Externally it is a building of substance but inside its beauty and sheer size is simply breathtaking. Wow is an understatement! We took advantage of one of the tours to learn more the Cathedral and found it really helpful and interesting. Parking is not easy but we managed to find a park in a nearby street. A nice cuppa can be had in the tea room across from the Cathedral.

The tower tour is worth every penny. Our guide, Chris, was so knowledgeable. And he was very honest about how strenuous the climb can be, so we were well prepared. Fortunately, there are plenty of places to rest on the way up, and so much to see internally, as well as the great views. Chris told us more about the structure and its history each time we paused, at the clock, the bells, above the nave, and so on. The grand finale was the lighting up of the internal structure of the spire. I've never seen anything quite like it. There was a collective gasp from our small group.

The Cathedral is amazingly beautiful. And it was a treat to see one of the four original Magna Cartas. The town of Salisbury is picturesque too.
