“Definitely one to see”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

If you are in the area it is one cathedral you must visit. One of the finest cathedrals in the country with the tallest church spire in the UK (123m/404 ft). The cathedral also has the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain and has an excellent copy of the Magna Carta. From almost any angle it looks fantastic - just look at the John Constable before or after visiting..

“get yourself on a spire tour”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

Assuming you do not mind climbing narrow stairs, then the 2 hour guide was so informative and one can only marvel at the building of this spire and from the outside the views even on a poor winter's day are good. Also to be able to see the whole length of the church, you get a real idea of it length which you do not when you stand on the nave floor and can also see the detail of the ceiling much better. After a good lunch in their cafe, we went on a cathedral tour, again really informative, so we ended up nearly spending the whole day there.

“Recommend the Spire Tour”
Reviewed February 5, 2013

We had a lovely visit to Salisbury Cathedral. We booked on a Spire tour and there was only myself, my husband and two girls on the entire tour, so it was a great experience. Our tour guide was slightly acerbic, but funny with it and knowledgeable. Going up into the roof space was amazing, you cannot help but admire the Mediaeval engineering. There are many steps - 329 I think, so probably not for the faint of heart, but you get a brilliant 360 view from the top (well not quite at the top of the spire, but near enough) I recommend this to complete your Cathedral visit.

I visited several cathedrals in England in April 2012 and the Salisbury Cathedral was my favorite. The extensive statuary on the outside of the building is amazing, but I walked inside I got chills up and down my spine. Everything from the stained glass, especially the beautiful main glass, the woodwork of the quire and ceiling tile work is just exquisite!
