“Best tapas in Leeds”
Reviewed May 11, 2011

Great food, good atmosphere, good value for money, just the service can sometimes let it down when they're very busy but as I'm never in a rush to leave when I'm here that's hardly a problem.

“Very rude waiter.”
Reviewed April 8, 2011

We called on the way to the restaurant to see how busy they were, I was told that there we're quite a few table ready and that if we were got there in 5 mins we would be seated straight away. However when my husband and got there we we're approached by this very abrupt waiter telling us it would be 1 hour before we could get a table, even though I could spot 5 tables free, we explained that we had just spoken to someone and that they said we could be seated almost straight away... he very rudely replied "well u didn't speak to me" my husband then told him that he had bad customer service skills and he agressivly said "what ever I'm not bothered''. We certainly wouldn't have minded waiting for a table if this certain waiter hadn't of been so rude to begin with. We then went down theroad to amigo's tapas.... Perfect in every way!

“Worth the wait ( and you will )”
Reviewed February 20, 2011

Went for the first time last night with two friends. On arrival we were told to get a drink upstairs and prepare for a 2 hour wait! Went upstairs and struggled to find a space to stand. Not a good start!! However within 15 mins a large party were seated and things improved In all we waited about an hour and to be honest time flew The atmosphere is great and the food very good. Cocktails were excellent but the majority rum based Very good value but be prepared to wait if you don't avoid the wary evening rush

“Amazing sangria, lively atmosphere & great tapas at a reasonable price”
Reviewed January 27, 2011

This is one of my favourite places to grab a bite to eat in Leeds as it’s always a fun evening. The atmosphere is fantastic as the place is often very busy and lively, the place is cosy and the décor has been done very well too. All wood tables and chairs, red walls and lots of posters and pictures up on the walls. Slight word of warning, not a place for a quiet meal as it’s often quite loud.

Service has always been fine although sometimes can be a little slow when they are packed out. On a Saturday night expect to wait a while in the bar area upstairs before you get a table. This isn’t really a problem though as there are sofas and you can get a drink.

The sangria is absolutely to die for – very tasty, chocked full of fruit and very strong! No messing around with watery-flavourless stuff here.

Food is Spanish / South American tapas style and most dishes I’ve tried have been great. A particular favourite is the vegetable and bean stew; the tomato base is very intense with deep flavours and dipping the bread in this is lush. The food is heads and shoulders above chain tapas like La Tasca, puts the chains to shame really. One other thing to mention is that there are plenty of choices on the menu for vegetarians which is unusual for tapas places (my partner is veggie).

The prices are very reasonable, lots of food (too much maybe!) for two people and a big jug of sangria has generally come to about £20-£25 pp depending on the tapas choices.

“Visit Spoilt By Noise”
Reviewed October 24, 2010

If you want a relaxed meal, then avoid Viva Cuba. Extremely loud music forced diners to raise their voices to be heard - and the result spoilt the dining experience.

The food was reasonable, especially some prawns which were hot and freshly cooked. However other tapas were only warm and had obviously been cooked some time before. Portions were good. Excellent cocktail.

But those noise levels!!! You have to shout to be heard.
