Description: Tapas from my Grannies Recipes in a hand built bar and restaurant we made ourselves. We like to think we have brought a little bit of Spain, a traditional taverna, with us to Leeds. With Live acoustic music every Tuesday in our cosy downstairs restaurant, and music through out the week. Pablo and Yeyo offer as authentic Tapas as it is possible to find in a unique little restaurant. You can relax in the bar after a hard days work, or maybe outside and enjoy a glass of specially selected Spanish wine.

“A flavour of Spain”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

I was taken here for my birthday, and had a great evening.
The setting downstairs in the cellar made for a nice atmosphere - loud enough to feel that everyone wasn't listening to your conversation, but not too loud to hear each other.
I went as a couple on this visit, but you could equally spend an evening with friends on one of the larger tables.
Service was attentive and friendly, with no excessive wait times. The ordering systems was explained up front, with good advice on the number of recommended dishes to order. When the food arrived, it was fresh and hot, and I was very impressed with 90% of it... tasty, well cooked and authentic as far my own experiences in Spain have been. I'd highly recommend the meatballs and the deep fried jalepenos. Unfortunately, much of the fried squid was overcooked slightly, which was the only disappointment, but by no means a showstopper.
We finished with an icecream/coffee/amaretto desert plates, which is always a great way to end a meal, in my opinion.
I would recommend booking a table, as the place certainly filled up.
There is really no excuse to go to somewhere like La Tasca when there are places like this around. I will be going back.

“Spanish food heaven!”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

I went with a large group of fellow Spanish students and had a fabulous taps selection meal. The service was great and the food just kept on coming and I lost track of how many different dishes we had! But they were all delicious - as was the wine. A wonderful atmosphere downstairs in the cellar-like restaurant - no fancy frilly table cloths but who needs those!!

“A real Spanish experience”
Reviewed November 9, 2012

This is the ultimate Spanish restaurant and bar you will find in the Leeds area. Forget all the chain tapas bar such as La Tasca, this is the real thing. Maya and Pablo have concocted the perfect "bareto" to satisfy all of your needs for good Spanish food, live music and an enjoyable atmosphere.

With most of its staff actually from Spain, you feel like entering a small Spanish restaurant every time you visit. The food is really good and the choice on offer is comprehensive: other than decently portioned tapas (please, please try the stuffed pimenton peppers), you can opt for more substantial dishes like paella (a definite winner) or grilled fish and meat. The desserts are also really nice and I would definitely have another slice of their Bailey's cheesecake anytime soon.

The live music adds the necessary verve to the place, turning your dining experience into a real success. Maya and her team perform classics with a twist and tap into more exotic tunes such as a traditional Spanish songs.

Other than being a hit with the locals, this small but friendly family owned restaurant is known all over and is always fairly busy - book a table in advance so as not to be disappointed.

“Get rid of the bar hoggers!”
Reviewed November 2, 2012 via mobile

Just got home - food and service fab, live music a bonus - my only criticism - a bar full of middle aged people who had already had too much to drink and were taking up all the seats and probably had no intentions of eating!
