“Better than expected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

The hotel had been refurbished. Everything looked new. The twin room was very pleasant. It was SO clean and tidy. I was very impressed that for only £18 for the night I had a really nice place to stay and on the 6th floor it overlooked the city. A penthouse feel! The staff were attentive. Professional. Friendly. I will stay again!

I stayed here for one night on a Saturday in January and it was a disappointing experience. It clearly operates for people visiting Leeds for a big night out so there were lots of people hanging about outside in various stages of drunkenness which wasn't the best first impression and I was really concerned that it would be noisy.

The rooms are basically student halls with double beds and no carpet. The shower set up was peculiar with a cubicle in the corner of the room.

The heating didn't work so my room was really cold, which was compounded by the lack of carpet, and it was missing the TV remote. I went to speak the reception desk and they took over half an hour to sort the problem. Ordinarily this wouldn't have been an issue but it was past midnight.

On the plus side the room was well sound-proofed and the continental breakfast was surprisingly ok but for future visits to Leeds I will stay anywhere but here.

This hotel doesn't even get a rating in my book £98 between 4 of us in 2 rooms, we expected it to be simple but was dirty, smelly and was disgraceful to be able to operate as a hotel. My mate and me ended up sharing the double bed cause the bunk sheets were full of black hair and stains and hadn't been changed from the previous people staying. There was a constant smell of farts and wee when u walked in and out of the room and it was not to do with us like a sewage smell but very potent. On the morning when leaving there was toilet roll, cans of beer, bottles left througout the hall. At the entrance was a smoking area where people were spitting and hocking up last nights booze and subway absolute lowts. My mate contracted bed bugs from the bed and on Monday night at work after the weekend he was itching and scratching all night was horrendous never again prefere to sleep on the park benches over the road. Shocking! is an understatment, Choose to stay in a travelodge not one of these if your looking for a cheap stay.

We booked this hotel for 3 girls who were celebrating a birthday in Leeds. The room and location was what we wanted but the service terrible. We entered card details when booking and had presumed all was paid. We found on arrival that the payment was due and rather then letting me pay over the phone or with the card I'd originally entered they insisted the girls pay there and then which left them short of money. No flexibility or compassion shown for the situation.
The hotel itself was ok but make sure you are aware that payment will be due even if you think you've paid.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent visit to at Ibis Budget hotel in Leeds. I’m delighted that you enjoyed your stay.

Regarding your comments about the payment, the website states that the card is solely use to guarantee the reservation and payment is made upon arrival, unless/otherwise booked under promotional pre-paid rate.

We are sorry that the girls had to pay, which left them short of money, but we hope you would appreciate our concern as an organisation using correct method of payments and to avoid fraud.

Thanking,
Kind Regards

I was just looking for somewhere to kip really, as I was not going to arrive until about 22:30 and needed to leave by about 08:00. The room is a good size with a very decent shower. The bed was really comfortable for me. Didn't make use of any of the other facilities, but the location was good, being right on the edge of Leeds centre and only a ten minute stroll from the station.

Hotel from hell....
Worst place ever. Management rude and offensive. We was blamed for carrying the parasitic bed bugs into hotel. Four months on personal laundering costs still not covered as a preventative measure of keeping our home safe from bed bugs. We had to bins our suit cases among other personal items. The hotel has a party atmosphere at weekends. Door was knocked on numerous times all hour of night and early morning. 10.00am Sunday morning we was suited and booted to go to a wedding having to step over drunk kids passed out in the corridor. A scattering of empty vodka and beer cans in the corridor and a pint of sick. House keeping staff clear to be seen and no action taken.

Stayed 1 night in Mar 13 with my teenaged son in a twin room. Booked early on accorhotels.com for only £18. The check-in staff were nice and friendly and recommended a free carpark right across the road. The room was small but OK with shower, sink, WC and a TV. Unfortunately the single beds are small, narrow with a thin mattress so not very comfortable, we didn't sleep well! On the good side, it's within walking distance of the town centre and has a good sports bar attached to the same building.

Room Tip: High rooms are quiet and have a good view
