“GLORIOUS VICTORIAN PARK IN NORTH LEEDS”
Review of Roundhay Park

The huge Mansion house, once privately owned, has now become a wedding venue, Visitor's Centre and cafe - the centrepiece of what is now Roundhay Park. Today the city of Leeds offers us all 700 acres of parkland, lakes and woodland and is one of the largest urban parks in the world. The Park numerous walks, a scented for the blind, National Plant Collections, Canal Gardens, the Monet and Alhambra Gardens, plus Tropical World (also known as Butterfly Gardens and Butterfly World) which attracts visitors all year round. For me, the jewel in the crown in the Lakeside Restaurant wich overlooks the wonderful Waterloo Lake. Fabulous for coffee/lunch with a friend after an hour's wander around the lake. A place for cricket, pushchairs, dog walking or strolls - just wonderful.

A delightful cafe with an enchanting view. Was that a swan, or was it the Lady of the Lake? Perhaps the ruler of Avalon winters here.

This is a wonderful place to visit and so close to Leeds City centre. I visit the park twice a day with the dog and it never disappoints me.There are many gardens you can walk round particularly in the summer when they are looking their best. The Waterloo Cafe is a good place to visit and this overlooks Waterloo Lake. There is also the Mansion where you can also buy coffee etc.The park itself covers a huge distance with play areas for the children and several walks available for all the family. There is also Tropical World which is also worth a visit particularly for children where they can see all kinds of butterflies and they have the meerkat house also.I feel so lucky that I live on the doorstep of this superb park no matter what time of year it is and I sure visitors will not be disappointed. As far as length of stay is concerned you could spend one hour there or all day

The size of Rounday Park means that even on the busiest of days you can still get away from the crowds. Walks into the woods on the far side of the lake are brilliant and not over strenuous for those less used to longer walks.

Visit the gardens at the top of the park to see the displays that were at the Chelsea flower show, just brilliant!!!!
