I was prevented from taking evening photographs in Millennium Square as apparently Leeds Council require you to have a "permit" although this is not included on the byelaw notices displayed in the area and the photography policy on the Council's own website only relates to museums and galleries.
I returned the following day as part of an organised photography course and was able to take outdoor photographs including the Civic Hall and fairground without the indignity of being escorted off site again.
A daytime steward advised that people can get away with snaps on their mobile phone or compact camera but a DSLR and a tripod are a big no-no (especially at Christmas time).
Public toilet facilities were not pleasant Sunday lunchtime - disappointing when visitors were being encouraged to buy food and drink at the Christkindelmarkt.
