Living nearby I've visited since I was a child and was disgusted when the council decided to charge £5 per person! After paying £10 to get in we decided that a season ticket would make more sense to us so we could take the dog each week. At £30 for an annual pass they even took off the £10 we had already payed so we only had to visit twice more to be in profit! We now go at least once a week so in your face Leeds city council!!!
The cafe is lovely and we often call in for breakfast or coffee and a cuppa.
Look out for the events too, plenty to entertain children in the holidays & if you consider taking the kids each half term then a yearly pass makes sense :)

Lotherton Hall is not the greatest attraction near Leeds but its free and good for an afternnon out. Its handy for M!, M621 and A1 motorways, down a country road. The bird garden is quite nice, with some good exhibits. The cafe is pretty good with loads of homemade food especially the cakes. The gardens are a pleasure to stroll aroud theres plenty of space for the kids to play ball and run around - an ideal half term outing. When open, the hall is interesting for older kids and adults.

We've been bringing our 9 yr old son here for the day several times a year for the last few years & always enjoyed it. It's been really good value to only pay £3 odd for parking & to be able to set up a picnic area & chairs etc, kick a ball around, our son ride his bike & go on the playground, all go for a stroll round the bird garden & enjoy the beautiful gardens,in fact we used to do everything except the house (which was charged for.) It was a great cheap day out in the fresh air. We went last Saturday & were shocked to have to pay £5 per adult ! It was supposed to be £2.50 for kids over 5 but for some reason the youth let us off with our son's charge. We still had a good day out but probably wouldn't go again, you might as well have a picnic & go to the playground & gardens for free at Temple Newsam, there's not even a parking charge there.
