“A great place all year round.”
Review of Golden Acre Park

The park is only fifteen minutes from where I live, and is interesting all the year round. There is a lake with a variety of wildfowl and easy walks. There is a separate nature reserve and access to longer walks beyond the park itself to both East and West. The Leeds Country Way passes through the park.

There is an excellent cafe in the old Bakery near the main entrance and good parking.

As might be expected the parking, cafe and park can be busy on fine weekends.

Come early as the newly renovated and extended car park becomes packed. This park is very popular and rightly so having a lake in the middle full of hungry ducks, geese, swans, coots and perpetually starving sea gulls as well as walkways, scenery and modern facilities. Beware: go off the beaten track and it can get quite muddy underfoot. The spotlessly clean café has one of the best arrays of cakes only surpassed by a patisserie. No horses, no skateboards nor bikes obstruct the paths and the numerous dogs are kept well under control by their owners. The park via the cafe lend mobility motor scooters for those who cannot walk round the grounds but you must phone before 10:30 am to book one.

I have been here a number of times and enjoyed the park very much. The walk is lovely and peaceful. A place to go anytime with the dog, family, friends or just to sit and think. The cafe was ok but they seem to have gone down the cook chill buy in food which is a shame, LCC note, home made food is much better than cook chill and can be adapted for special diets. Sadly we live way down in the south of the city and it is a bit of a treck but we look forward to going in the summer.

Trees were magnificent in their autumnal plumage, good selection of wildlife and habitats, stupendous views towards the Dales, excellent café and toilets. Good transport links by car or bus

This is a well looked after park with a variety of landscapes - lake, mature woodland, heathland and various cultivated gardens.
I have been coming here for over 40 years and my children (10 and 13 yrs) are still happy to come.
There is something for everyone.
There are loads and loads of dogs being walked and quite a bit of dog excrement, especially in the fields and heathland, which does spoil it especially if you want to go nature watching.
In spring there are loads of daffodils and snowdrops.
There is a mediocre cafe - personally we don't like the food there.
There are public conveniences which aren't always clean.
