Visited early Feb 2014 for an evening early valentines meal for two.
Good welcome upon arrival and good attentive service throughout. Only minor criticism was that the place was quite cold (temperature wise) initially. It warmed up once more customers arrived and to be fair we did dine pretty early.
We ordered a selection of dishes and we couldn't fault the food. Starters were delicious. I particularly enjoyed the black pudding terrine.
Unsure about previous reviews commenting on portion sizes as we found these to be just right, particularly for the main courses. We had three side dishes (veg, kale and chunky chips) between two and found this to be more than enough. The mackrel main was superb. The passion fruit creme brulee was tasty for dessert and again portion size was ample.
Wine and beer was reasonably priced. Try their awesome homebrew rye ales!
Total price was approx £30 per head for three courses which we couldn't fault.
We enjoyed our visit and had a feeling that seeing as this is a reasonably new place it can only improve on an already good start and we like their attempts to serve quite innovative food compared to what is available locally.
