I heard about the pop up restaurant through twitter and thought is sounded like a great idea! I had high expectations and was very excited about the visit and I wasn't disappointed. There were four of us in total and the rest of the party had a fantastic time too.
The pop up restaurant runs twice per month so I would definately recommend booking for one in future. The deli is set up restaurant style with linen table cloths and wine and water glasses. They must not have an alcohol licence so you can take your own wine / beer etc and this is poured at the table by the helpful and friendly staff. It is also great value for money at 4 courses for £20 (supplement of £3 for Coffee and Petit Fours). There were two sittings avaliable - 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
From my understanding the menu is seasonal so dependent on when you visit the menu will change, The Amuse Bouche was Butternut Squash Veloute - great to get us all started and ready for our starters. There were two starter choices and two main choices. I chose Blue Cheese Tart with Pear and Walnut Salad - which was amazing - not something I would usually go for but I was glad I chose soemthing different as it was fantastic - really enjoyed it. The rest of the party had King Prawn & Avocado Salad with cayenne pepper dressing - presented beautifully and everyone enjoyed it.
For main course I had Spinach, Pepper and Ricotta Lasagne with Pepper Coulis. This was lovely - not as good as my starter but I still enjoyed it. The rest of the party had Rack of Lamb and they raved about it!
Dessert was Pistachio and Raspberry Financier with Vanilla Cream - again, amazing! (if you are like me and and are not sure what a Financier is - it was a small warm sponge cake with Pistachio pieces in it) This was fantastic - I will definately be back to the deli during day light to try out some more sweet treats!
We had coffee and petit fours (it would be rude not to!) - this was a blueberry marshmallow - quite unusual but delicios all the same!
Overall we had a great evening and I couldn't fault it at all. We will definately be back to this small and intimate setting to sample next seasons menu!
