must agree with the last review. you get a lovely warm welcome. the food is fantastically homemade, no frozen french fries here. the chips are the best i've had anywhere chunky and golden brown.the menu is reasonably price too the dearest meal at £9.95. we've eaten there 3 times already. its becoming our local again. well done andy and julie :)

Welcome to Andy and Julie who have just taken over the Engine Inn as of Good Friday last week. You can tell they have put some money into the place, it has a warm welcoming atmosphere, they have removed the 'booths' making more floor space, and glad to see they have removed that horrible curtain thing around the WC entrances,(as it was quite dangerous, people kept walking into the metal works on it.. Very friendly and inviting. We have been in a couple of times now since it opened and eaten on both occasions. Can highly recommend the Leek and Potato soup. Fish and Chips are absolutely gorgeous and I love mushrooms in garlic cream sauce and OMG they are to die for!!!!!!! and for the first time in a long time you actually get a decent size portion of them. They have changed the menu, it is small and basic, but you know what..... it works and there is enough to choose from. The portions are just right, not too small and not too big. I hope it works out for them, because they seem very friendly and keen to please. Can't wait for summer to sit out in the garden and enjoy a drink or 4.... ;). Well here's looking to a prosperous future for them and a decent 'local' for folks to go. GOOD LUCK ANDY AND JULIE.

I came here with my wife for a breakfast before going into Leeds.
The welcome was warm and the service was good.
A good traditional hearty breakfast with eggs done whatever way you want - fried, scrambled or poached (which we had).
A return visit is a dead cert!
