“THIS IS NOT INDIAN FOOD”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013 via mobile

How has this place managed to get into the top 31 restaurants in leeds?

How has it managed to amass 4.5 stars out of 5 on trip advisor?

What is wrong with all you people who've given it good reviews??

The food isn't authentic, it's tasteless. The service is slow and the prices a shocking £10 more than you would be paying in a proper curry house, if there's just 2 of you eating.
We were told by a friend (his opinion is no longer valued!) that Bengal was really good. As we live just 5 mins walk away we thought we should give it a try, so we did last night. My tikka masala was an orange yellow colour and tasted more like a korma. My girlfriend ordered a bhuna, which tasted like burnt garlic and nothing else. The garlic naan however, didnt taste of anything.

If you are looking for good value and great taste and service, go to Akmals in Hyde park. If you want something authentic, Mumtaz on Clarence Dock. DO NOT GO TO BENGALS, UNLESS YOU ARE THE TYPICAL ENGLISH TYPE THAT IS FRIGHTENED OF EATING A REAL CURRY.

PS. We didn't see a single Indian eating in here last night, and that's always a bad sign.

“A regular curry haunt of mine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

Bengal Brasserie is amazing for it's service and friendly staff, they never seem to forget a face. Life has been made better since they started their delivery service! Dangerous. Great curry, just what you want and expect from a curry in my opinion. Good typical curries as well as some nice specialties - my favourite is the Tikka Korai or Chom Chom. always busy and full of atmosphere. I've been here on dates, with parents and in large parties of 15 or so. Never been let down! Cheers Bengal

“Yummy, but concerningly low rating on food safety”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2013 via mobile

This used to be my favourite Indian restraunt. But recently I checked the food standards agency and it only scours a 2 so now I am looking for a new takeaway and restraunt. Shame as the food and service always seemed good

Visited this restaurant on a recent business trip after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor. Great staff, with good knowledge of their menu. Excellent value, well presented and very enjoyable meal.

“Delicious food and friendly service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

This restaurant is a little 'old school' in looks but this does not detract from the delicious food and very friendly service.

We loved the balti which was served in a copper pot and my husbands dish arrived in a steaming hot mini pan.

Other highlights: Offered to serve a 1/2 portion for our child. Onion bhaji excellent. Special rice - special. Offer of a complimentary drink at the end of the meal.

It is best to book as does get busy, even on week days. Enjoy!
