“A beautiful little theatre”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

My friends and I went to City Varieties last night (23rd October) to see Les McKeown's Bay City Rollers. We had a fabulous evening - the theatre has been beautifully refurbished and it has such a lovely atmosphere. The staff were very freindly and welcoming ........and everyone seemed to have a great evening.

“repeat visit necessary”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

located in the heart of the city.
lovely old theatre with the audience close to the stage.
great acts reviving the 'good old days'
the audience is an integral part of the overall performance which involves the performers but in the words of Leonard Sachs 'chiefly yourselves.
It is an experience to repeat on a yearly basis.

“Excellent tour”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

I love this tour and the girl taking us round was brilliant. Her stories really made the tour, so much fascinating information. Great value for money too. I would say this is a must visit for Leeds.

“historic theatrical treasure”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

City Varieties is simply gorgeous. It was the home of "The Good Old Days", and nowadays it continues to host a variety of performers and groups..... different from year to year, but including solo musicians, comedians, plays, and sometimes even acrobatics! It's a beautiful Victorian building, and the staff is great. This is a must-do for anyone visiting Leeds.

“Revived and well worth it.”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

Known world wide through the TV series that lasted 30 years from 1953 this theater has recently gone through a largely sympathetic revamp running to (I'm told) £10m.
From the customer point of view it still feels like a Victorian music hall with the painted ceiling and loads of gold leaf. Seating is comfortable with loads of leg room.
Go if you can if only to one of the theater tours.
