After the refurb now even better than ever. Just love going to the City Varieties. It's just like stepping back in time and a great day out. Now even better than ever that I've found a new little Vintate Tearooms, aptly named Just Grand! nearby in Handpicked Hall on vicar lane at the bottom of the Grand Arcade. A fitting venuwe for a good old fashioned cuppa and afternoon tea before the main event at the City Varieties. Now as days go that is truely Just Grand!

I have been a few times to watch some big name comics warming up for big tours. City varieties is small and old fashioned. Perfect! You can pay a little extra for a side box which is fun. The staff are mainly older retired types who are a joy. The pub attached is great for pre show food and drink which is reasonably priced. Suggest you get on the mail list because some shows are under the radar. Michael McIntyre, John Bishop, Sarah Milligan etc etc for about £20. Bargain!

Right in the centre of Leeds up an alley way is the City Varieties. Very old place, quaint, authentic, nice auditorium, has a nice feel to it. Worth a visit.

Post it's refurbishment, City Varieties Music Hall is an outstanding, intimate, friendly place to see gigs, comedy, panto - whatever. We love it.

This is a genuine old music hall dating from the mid-1800's. It has been beautifully restored by the local council at a vast cost to the Leeds ratepayers but they'll get it back several-fold over the next few years. All the stars have performed on its stage right back to Marie Lloyd and up to Ken Dodd, who re-opened it after refurbishment - he was on stage at 7-30pm and we left the theatre at 1-30am the following day !!
