The Novotel Leeds is in a quiet business area of the City, although new buildings are due to go up opposite. The hotel is almost next to the railway station and is close to the restaurants and night clubs in Leed's West End. There is car park under the hotel. The reception staff are very friendly, the rooms are quiet, clean and well-furnished, and there is reasonable sound-proofing. Breakfasts are a well-stocked buffet but are pricy. However, there is a co-op shop opposite the entrance, which serves fresh coffee and croissants from early hours, seven days/week.

Stayed in this hotel for a Saturday night a few weeks ago. Compared to other Novotels this is slightly outdated however the room was great for a one night stay. The location is just beside the railway station and great for nights out in Leeds.

I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

I would be a bit hesitant to stay when the weather was really warm as the windows only open 3 inches and the air con is really a heater and not blowing cold air.

Having seen an internet offer of £59 double room only we rang up to enquire about a triple room and were quoted £110 including breakfast. I actually think this rate was good but did mean that the sofa became two single beds so we were a tad squashed!

POSITIVES: Great location. £2.90 taxi from the train station, and only 5 mins walk away. Beds were very comfy - we all had an excellent nights sleep. Also think the rooms are well sound proofed because there were lots of hen and stag parties at the hotel but we didn't hear any excess noise from people getting ready for nights out, returning later or getting up in the morning. They have those really thick curtains which also helped us sleep well - couldn't believe it when the alarm went off at 9.15am - it was so lovely and dark in the room! Lighting over the bathroom and a long mirror was excellent for 3 girlies doing their make-up!

NEGATIVES: Room was only superficially clean. There were several long hairs in the bath and sink area and also in the drawers. There were biscuit crumbs on the surface and the floor didn't look like it had been hoovered thoroughly. Also as other posters have stated it was extremely hot in the room. The window barely opened so it was difficult to cool down. Having said that it didn't stop us sleeping but it was uncomfortable when getting ready.

GENERAL: Breakfast was nice enough!

Stayed in this hotel for three nights last week for work and was really impressed. All the staff were really friendly and helpful which is always a bonus as it seems rare these days! Nice relaxed bar
(didn't eat in the restaurant but the menu was impressive). Room was lovely, large bed, fridge, nice fluffly towels, speakers in the bathroom, big bath with plenty of room for your glass of wine! All the things a girl needs after a stressful day! Breakfast was a little
overpriced but that would be my only complaint. Room was nice and quiet, I was overlooking the entrance and there was hardly any outside noise. All in all a really good hotel I would definitley recommend!

Shockingly hard bed made for worst night in a hotel in recent years. Hotel felt like an Ikea show room. Furniture and furnishings more for effect than than practicality and comfort. Ordinarily Novotel are of a good standard but don't know what happened in Leeds.

This hotel would present a good option of accommodation in Leeds city centre if it wasn't because of the restaurant.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The deco is nothing special, flatpack looking furniture and a bathroom that reminds you of a portable toilet as everything seems to be made out of plastic. The views are not great and the room was really hot even though it wasn't that hot outside and the heating wasn't on.

Another problem with the room is that the wireless internet connection didn't work, not very nice, when you have a lot of catching up to do and are counting on it.

Their staff are courteous and helpful, no complaints in that area.

The mail problem of this hotel is the restaurant. I ordered a fillet steak medium and what arrived was completely carbonised. So Unedible I had to send it back to the kitchen (I don't think I've ever had to send something back before). I also ordered some side ratatouille and what arrived was basically, some undercooked vegetables floating on something looking like tomato ketchup. I couldn't give credit to my eyes, I looked out for hidden cameras but didn't see any so I take that was not a joke.

I did't attempt a dessert because I presumed it would be just as bad.

In the morning, the breakfast selection wasn't any better, I asked for some porridge and what came back was oat flakes floating in milk (no porridge cosistency whatsoever), I didn't even eat it. There were some scrambled eggs totally overcooked under a heated lamp, overal not a pleasant eating experience.

So, my advice, if you go to the Novotel: Don't bring your laptop, as it will not work on wireless and don't eat there.

After a great afternoon out in Leeds, my stay at the Novotel was ruined because the room temperature must have been at least 35 degrees C and it was impossible to sleep.
The window only opened a couple of inches and let traffic noise in, so I turned the air conditioning to the lowest setting, only to discover later that it was malfunctioning and blowing warm air into the room. After taking a cold shower around midnight, I decided to call reception, who couldn't have been less helpful. I was told that there was no point in moving rooms because the air conditioning was the same throughout the hotel, that no fans were available and that the air-con would eventually cool down (it didn't).
After a sleepless night, I spoke to the manageress in the morning about my ordeal. She said the problem would be investigated, took my contact details and told me that I would hear from them after the weekend. That was 5 weeks ago and I've heard absolutely nothing. It's just a shame that the Novotel Leeds seems to be staffed by people who really couldn't care less.
