“Two separate stays, two very different rooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2012

Stayed twice last year. First time - room was poor, wallpaper hanging off, floor times missing, iron not working, very old TV with few channels - generally not good. Breakfast was ok, nothing special, buffet style. Got an email, asking for feedback so I duly gave it. They took notice, emailed me with a response, noting that I was booked in for the following week and would upgrade me to a 'business room'. Very different. Decor was much improved, if not a little cold (tiled floor), much bigger room, modern decor, TV etc. I was pleased they had noted that I was staying again and acted on my feedback. Would I stay there again? Probably not. My scores are overall against both stays.

Stayed at this hotel the 30th and 31st December. Usually stay in the Marriott at Leeds but got a good offer on this hotel and decided to give it a go.
As we entered the hotel first impressions were good, particularly liked the open fire in the bar area. After a smooth check in we went to our room, which was more than adequate, good room and bathroom. Television could do with been updated wasn't a flat screen and reception wasn't good! The free wifi was handy, although sometimes a little slow. We needed extra pillows, which were brought to the room straight away!
The hotel is in an ideal location, it is located within 'The Light' complex which has lots of restaurants. We found this ideal as it was a rainny Friday night and we didn't even have to go outside. On the Saturday night (New Years Eve) we went to pubs that were all located close by.
We stopped on a room only basis, so can't comment on the breakfast. We just went to Wetherspoons a 2minute walk away 2 breakfasts for less than £10.
Car parking is also within The Light complex and this cost £13 a day.
Overall a good hotel, with an excellent location. We would stop again and would recommend this hotel.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your recent feedback regarding your stay with us.

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us.

I can confirm that we are currently sourcing a higher speed internet system which we aim to have in place in the coming months along with a TV upgrade program for the guest bedrooms.

For your reference should you wish to include breakfast please just ask at the time of booking, alternatively this can be added on at check in, which offers the popular Radisson Blu Super Breakfast with over 100 items on the all you can eat buffet.

I am pleased to read that you had an enjoyable stay and the service was of a high standard. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind regards

We stayed here with our two youngsters in Jan 12. Having looked at the details on the website, I telephoned and was talked through how to get the best deals available on the internet a few days prior to arrival. Fortunately this saved me a significant amount of money. The hotel is extremely well located, with plenty of nearby restaurants and parking (at £13 per 24hrs extra charge) available under the same roof.

On arrival the staff were helpful, although I was left to wait for 10 mins whilst the only receptionist on duty dealt with another customer. The room was made available early and we opted to upgrade to business class, which includes a larger room, free on demand movies, in room espresso maker and breakfast delivered to your room for no extra charge. The sizable room was of a high standard, included both a bath and shower and the staff provided a cot and put-up bed at no extra cost. Sadly the arrangement with the local Virgin Active Club was for over 18s only, which was not immediately obvious on the website, so our youngsters missed out on the swim they were so looking forward to. The room was a little on the warm side and the temp controls did not appear to respond to changes, although to be fair to the staff we did not get round to reporting this. In the morning our early risers had us up at 0630 hrs and when we were unable to find the TV remote, a call to reception resulted in a replacement within 5-10 mins.

Overall, a great place for a couple of nights stay in Leeds and eager to please staff.

Stayed here for 2 nights as i couldn't get into the Mint. First impressions were good, excellent location and effecient reception, corridors reminded me a little of 'The Shining' but nice decor. The room had wood flooring which is one of the problems as this makes sound carry as demonstrated the following morning when i was woken by noises from one of the neighbouring rooms. The temperature in the room was also difficult to get to a reasonably warm level which isn't what you want during December. Self service breakfast was adequate and unfussy if a little bland

Room Tip: choose the Mint instead

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your recent feedback regarding your stay with us.

I am pleased to read that the first impressions were positive. May I suggest for your next stay, that as the wooden flooring is not of your preference in the bedroom, we have three styles of bedrooms in the hotel; Art Deco, Italian an Hi-tech which can be requested subject to availability at the time of booking.

I am disappointed to read your comments about the Radisson Blu Super Breakfast with over 100 items to choose from. I will pass your comments on to the kitchen team to monitor this.

I appreciate you taking the time to feedback your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind regards

we stayed here for new years eve,the location is excellent near all the bars restaurants shops,we were given a art deco themed room which was my favourite, there are 3 themes italian and hi tech.the bathroom had a large walk in shower fluffy soft towels, good quality toiletries, the shower wasnt the most powerful one ive used maybe theses are fitted in the buisness class rooms.tea coffee making facilities were provided although we had to ask for extras as there was only 2 of each.bed was comfortable, only two pillows provided so we asked for two more.the staff were excellent and brought them to the room no problem.the hotel has a restaurant and a bar tht provided hot and cold snacks, the food was very fresh and reasonably priced for a hotel.needless to say after a late night we didnt use the gym.breakfast was buffet style there was everything you could want, from cereals fruit breads cold meats, full english breakfast as well.we would definately recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: maybe it would be better to book a room with the better monsoon shower that was advertised, our was o...

Having just stayed here 2 nights we found that the hotel rooms need updating. Firstly the TV is so old and dated. Channels ranged from 1 - 4 with the odd CNN. Poor picture and tiny screen.
Secondly the lighting in the room is rubbish. 3 lamps is not good enough!!!

Thirdly. There were 2 off us so would expect at least 2 glasses and 2 hot chocolates. Not 1!!!

Little things impress and they were none off them.

Location is brilliant.

We didn't pay for breakfast because we went 2 mins down the Rd to weatherspoons as it is far cheaper. £8 for a continental breakfast is a joke.

All in all we won't be staying again.
Shame because location is brilliant
