As Tio Pepe is tucked away from town, it's taken me a while to get round to going, but wow - how disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the tapas was fine, but it wasn't great. The likes of Ambiente and San Lucus in town are far better. There was six of us in our group and not one person thought anything was exceptional. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day.

“Wonderful relaxed evening”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

We had never been here before going last night. Wonderful menu, ate at our own pace a few tapas at a time between us and fresh plates etc each time. All dishes well cooked and seasoned and a pleasant ambience . Like being abroad. Very reasonable bill and a very nice white rioja too.. . Will be returning soon to try a few more dishes including wonderful varied specials. Ten out of ten and 100% . No its not plush , no it's not stuffy but it is cheerful, original and JUST GREAT!

“A real taste of Spain”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

I've eaten here a couple of times before. As well as a long list of the usual tapas to choose from there are some interesting daily changing specials. All food is freshly cooked to order therefore takes a little time to arrive but we were given a generous basket of crusty bread to graze on with the very reasonably priced house wine which was at just the right temperature, full bodied and mellow. The owner, Miguel, is very friendly and welcoming, his Spanish waitresses polite and efficient. My group chose a selection of tapas which we shared. Calamari batter was a shade soft and the braised chorizo ordinary but piri piri prawns and whitebait were perfectly cooked and delicious. Meaty albondigas and patatas bravas were excellent while the huge chunks of skewered pork were tender and flavourful. Do leave room for desserts, all home made and devilishly delicious - tarte Miguel was a sublime confection of Baileys creme caramel sandwiched between Cointreau infused ganache. Looking forward to the flamenco evenings early May!

“Great Food, Service and family friendly”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Been here a few times before, but mainly as a couple when it first opened. Dediced to bring our two young kids (3 and 6 months) after work on a Friday and couldn't have been more impressed. The food was first class, no faults or complaints whatsoever and great value for money in terms of portion sizes! Service was great too and the Spanish girls really went above and beyond to cater for our inquisitive 3 year old who wants to explore the restaurant and interact with staff and other diners. Will definitely be back many times!!
