Description: Situated on the rather swish York Place, close to Leeds mainline railway station, Miah’s Place is an Indian restaurant with a wow factor. Right from the outset you really know that you’re in for something special – the restaurant is set within one of the old red brick buildings, behind wrought iron low fencing, its subtle signage indicating that Miah’s Kitchen, a small scale chain making waves throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, is perhaps a little more special than your average Indian eatery. Through the portico-ed front door you’ll enter a stylish dining room furnished in an unusual Art Deco inspired style, with ball topped lamps, sensuous lines and low slung leather seating, all in low key tones. Miah’s Kitchen offers an extensive menu of old Indian favourites, ranging from tandoori dishes to biryanis and baltis as well as a good collection of specialties created especially for the restaurant, using contemporary and traditional techniques. Surprisingly affordable, Miah’s Kitchen provides an upmarket take on Indian dining without the price tag.

Went with family of 4 for early evening meal. Really interesting menu. We all chose diff food and we all had one of the best indian meals we have tasted. Attentive service, fast drinks and all for less than £100 including drinks.
Great place-will def come again.

Me and my partner booked a table here while having a few nights away in Leeds. We always check out trip advisor to see which places people are talking about and Miah's Kitchen was a definiate favourite.

Arriving 10 minutes earlier than we had booked we were given a seat in the bar area and served some drinks. The decor and atmosphere in the restaurant looked fantastic. After sitting for about 10 minutes there was a very unhappy lady sitting next to us with her family and complaining about having to wait 30minutes for their table. After talking to the waiting staff once again about how upset they were, the waiting staff were very attentive and apologetic about their wait and assured them their wait would not be much longer. I can understand that 30 minutes is a long wait especially as they had booked but when you can see that the guests are not leaving their seats and the staff are being very friendly there is not much you can do.

We decided to enjoy our time at the bar with a drink while we looked over the menu. We waiting about 30 minutes too and in that time were spoken to at least 3 times by the staff who then gave us complimentary popadums and pickle tray for the wait - everyones favourite.

The service was great and we got our starters which were very nice. After starters we were asked if we wanted our mains straight away - we also like a break between courses so it was really nice to be given this option. We enjoyed our drinks and conversation and the mains arrived 20 minutes later.

I chose the Korma and my partner had pasanda which on the menu was labelled as "Spicy but not too hot" My partner was a little diasspointed as he likes a bit of spice and when this dish arrived it was very mild. We swapped dishes half way through just to have a different taste even though they were both mild dishes. The tastes were very nice with lots of flavours in the rice also.

Once we had finished our meals we were given a complimentary glass of Baileys each and some indian ice cream which was a nice touch.

The price of the meal was very reasonable coming in at under 40 including the drinks we had. Overall the experience was great with friendly attentive staff and a fantastic atmosphere. Well worth a visit!

We went back after a lovely experience a few months ago. The food is really nice, altough the choice of starters is limited.
This time we left a bit disappointed though, as we had to wait for ages to get a table - even if we booked, and then had to wait again a fair amount to get the food.
Such a shame, considering the food is really high quality.
