An independent bijou coffee and tea emporium in the heart of the city. Close to the railway station, it has limited seating both up and down stairs. The staff are very friendly, there is a nice selection of coffee and tea (proper leafs) and some lovely fresh sandwiches and cakes that you shouldn't really resist. A nice alternative to the mega-chains, with real character.

I don't claim to be a coffee connoisseur, but I know what I like and that's bloomin good stuff from the team down at Laynes. I visit most days for either a pastry treat at breakfast time, or a filter coffee and sarnie at lunch. These guys really care about what they're doing and that's why they get it spot on every time. Sometimes the lunch menu offers soup or stew which is always a bonus, and both are always accompanied by a generous hunk of bread, hozah. I take all visitors here as I've honestly never had a better cup of coffee and I drink a fair amount of it! My only wish is that one day they will have a bigger premises so that I can take up a seat aaalllll day without feelings like I'm hogging the place! Love it.

Nice little indie coffee shop near Leeds station with nice selection of teas, cakes and sweet treats, but a rather limited selection of sandwiches.

However, it is called Layne Espresso for a reason - it makes great coffee.

Yes it is pricier that both the large chains and other indies in Leeds, but it is pricier because the product is so much better.

If you want coffe purely as a caffeine kick-start to your day then your choice is unlimited and covers all budgets, but if you want a superior cup of coffee that is their for enjoyment, then this is by far the best place in Leeds

This is a real find, fab coffee place for drink in or takeaway and lots of scrummy cakes and sandwiches. The best cappucchino I have ever experienced, divine, better than mine and I used to own to coffee shop! I would not go anywhere else, since trying the coffee here, the other places feel like pretenders.
