My kids' favourite museum, bar none. They ask to come here every time we visit Leeds. The Thackray is full of information for all and will amuse and interest all ages. Something for everyone! Just beware that the smells are authentic too. the Victorian street scene is pretty strong and not for the weak of stomach, particularly a pregnant wife, as I found to my cost...

we attended a reunion for nurses who trained at St. James Hospital, amazing to see the medical equipment they had to work with, worth a visit especially if you have medical background

We brought the kids here a couple of years ago and ended up really enjoying it. Yes the street at the start is smelly, however, its ment to be that way and is very interesting to see how people lived! There is so much to do and see and keeps the kids enterained for a long time so did the trick. Overall definitely worth a visit!

I recently went to the Thackray for their fright night at the museum. i have got to say I wasn't expecting much i was very surprised and impressed! The 19th century building is extremely atmospheric and lends itself well for ghost tours in particular, the staff were excellent and the exhibitions including the Leeds streets were really well presented and informative. If you are looking for something different to do on a friday night i would recommend visiting the thackray.
