We visited yesterday for a family afternoon out (two boys aged 3 and 1 years, mum and dad). We were impressed by the standard of the place. It has a small museum with old trains, two are open for people to walk through which thrilled my son. There is lots of information everywhere to read and would be great for school trips. The train ride was short although your ticket allows unlimited trips back and forth to Middleton park. All the staff are volunteers and are happy to answer any questions and let you watch everything they are doing. We visited on a Sunday which was the steam train trip, other days have a diesel train so check the website to make sure you get the right day. The café is small but serves drinks and has toilet facilities.
