I went there with a small group of friends doing like an adventurous day trip in Leeds. It is a bit remote but we all agree that the place, which is surrounded by very green trees, grass, mirror-like lake and the ruined Abby, makes us feel relaxed and even more comfort our minds. A trail alongside the stream is recommended, it's well-organised and also provides educational information of the wildlife there.

Fantastic lovely relaxing place with a nice walk around the outside of the old abbey.
There is a nice river which the path leads you next too.
There are signs every few moments telling you some useful facts.
I personally would recommend the abbey house museum on the opposite side of the road afterwards as its really great and interactive with a replica victorian whole street!

An uncle & many cousins live at Kirkstill Abbey. Nice old ruins with plenty of flowers in the old grounds. A pleasant visit if you enjoy old ruins. One to add to the ticks 'Seen it' list.

Interesting Abbey ruins, Bit frustrating not to be able to get into Abbey. Good tea room for cake in abbey rooms opposite side of road. handy play area and plenty of parking. Nice bulbs in the spring.

It is a great place to visit as it is so historical its also great for kids as they can have a run around as there is so much free land. The river Aire is right next to it too so its great to just sit by the river and enjoy the views especially on a afternoon when the sun is setting. If anybody would like to see some photos of kirkstall abbey then please check out my page Jess Hamilton Photography Leeds.
