Kirkstall Abbey is very atmospheric and the ruins and the grounds are lovely to walk around on a sunny day. The museum is just fantastic. Streets have been recreated exactly as they would have been in years past, and adults and children alike will love it.

I've visited Kirkstall Abbey many times in my visits. It was changed this time by adding fencing and guide signs around the property. It's a must see in this area.

An excellent visitors centre that describes how the abbey operated in the past. It also has the river Aire running past, and makes it an even more attractive place. I loved the feel of the place, and it makes me jump every time I drive past it.

The visitor centre is well set out and informative with very good toilets and a souvenir shop. The ruins are labelled so children can picture how the monks lived while they run around exploring them far away from any traffic. There's a great cafe opposite and a very busy food pub a few minutes walk away. We like walking there from Leeds, Granary Wharf underneath the Station, as it is level all the way. We sometimes walk on past a Locke and catch a service bus back to Leeds after picnicking past the Abbey.
