lovely building, great architecture. Very attractive boutique shops, hairdressers and cafes. Not far to the river to walk along

“Worth visiting for the beautiful building but not much else”
Reviewed June 26, 2014

I love the building and that alone should earn it 5 stars. Unfortunately it loses stars for the lack of access; not just no wheelchair access but not even a handrail to help you up the steps. It loses more stars for the poor shops; many units are empty and the others are predictably faux alternative. There are a couple of cafes but you'd be better to go to Le Chalet on Park Row for excellent and good value food/drinks.

Skin Therapy is definitely worth a miss; I called in to book an appointment as I had a voucher from Groupon but it's impossible to book by phone. Either they don't employ a receptionist or she's on holiday; the therapists couldn't agree whether or not she existed. Either way, it isn't possible for the therapists to answer phones or pick up voicemails. Despite this, they manage to be booked up six weeks in advance, by which time the voucher will have expired.

“Challenging - Depends what you are looking for”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

The building is very interesting and the roof (just imagine that the glass has been cleaned) is spectacular. There are some interesting independent shops here but there is a lot of empty units and the whole of the ground floor is empty. We had a nice coffee just before we finished for the evening. There were plenty of tables and chairs.
No sure how this will commercially survive in the future.

“Enjoy a coffee”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

When working in Leeds I sometimes get a chance to go into the city centre. I found Vanilla One coffee bar by chance. Chris the barista is very knowledgeable about the coffee he serves and happily talks to you about the latest beans being used. There is a good range of light food and lovely cakes. Try the soup as it is delicious. While sitting in the comfy sofas you can admire the amazing architecture and then wander round the lovely independent shops selling an amazing and interesting range of gifts . well worth a visit.

“Lovely environment!”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

This is a lovely area to spend a few hours in! There are coffee houses and restaurants on the ground floor and lovely small shops around the balcony. The day we went there was a record and CD sale in the basement. But the best thing about this venue is the beautiful architecture! The ceiling is stunning (photo attached) and allows loads of natural daylight in to the venue. Even on a rainy day, it was bright inside. Well worth a visit!
