“Top Class - very good stuff”

We absolutely loved the Malmaison in Leeds.

We only live about four miles away (!), and I had initially just booked the restaurant for my boyfriends birthday, but thought it would be really nice to stay over (Friday night) and managed to get a room at 3pm on the Friday for £89. Having booked so late I wasn't expecting to get the best room in the hotel, but on opening the door was just so giddy and overjoyed as the room was amazing and very spacious. The beds are very large, and the bathroom did the trick for a lazy pre dinner soak and to indulge on the minibar - pure luxury.

Well, what can I say about dinner. Truly amazing. The restaurant was busy (although not packed) and we felt well and truly fussed over without the waiters/waitresses being intrusive. We also didn't feel rushed at any time and were the last out of the restaurant having spent 3 hours enjoying the culinery delights. Not cheap at £160, but we had the full works including champagne, and would definately return just to experience the restaurant again. The service was first class. You must experience the cheese board - WOW!!

Our evening was made complete by the fact that we were able to chill out in the bar after dinner without worrying about having to get a taxi home, and having a sumptious room to return to.

For those of you who don't know Leeds and want to come to drink, eat and shop, the hotel is in an excellent location at the bottom end of town and is only five minutes away from all of the action.

I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

I would absolutely, definitely recommend this hotel. It is situated right in the centre of town, but is extremely quiet – even on a Saturday night. The entrance lobby is stunning - deep purple and cream bouncy carpet. The staff are friendly and helpful and are happy to answer any queries. The rooms are contemporary in style, but without being clinical - extremely luxurious and cosy with a warm feel. A nice big bath and power shower with classy toiletries (that you are actively encouraged to take away with you). I especially liked the way that everything is geared to a lazy weekend. The excellent breakfast is served until 10.30 am on Saturdays and 11am on Sundays. Breakfast was included in our rate, which was definitely worth it. However, priced at £11.95 (nice as it is), this would a little expensive as an extra cost. Overall – really enjoyable and no hassle.

I had high hopes for Malmaison and I have to admit to being a bit disappointed. Having paid £145 for a spacious superior room for one night, I was hoping for a bit of luxury.

And whilst the room was indeed spacious, I felt the service a little lacking and certainly not value for money.

Despite the check in time of 2pm, our room was still not ready when we arrived at 4pm. When we finally got to our room, a member of staff was in there chatting on the phone.

The room itself was clean and very nicely decorated, although the light switches took a bit of working out (in odd locations). The air conditioning kept switching itself off also.

Whilst we were settling in, another member of staff walked into our room without knocking or any other warning - just as well we were fully clothed!

Our room was overlooking the street to the side of the hotel and as it was a Saturday night, was quite noisy. I ended up putting ear plugs in to sleep. We had been promised bathrobes in the room, these were missing. The bed was a little hard but the pillows are divine.

The hotel seemed busy, but I really felt that the personal attention mentioned by other reviewers was sadly lacking on this occasion. Whilst the accommodation itself is fine, the service needs to be improved before I'll return.

Having stayed in Malmaison Hotels around the country I was very disappointed with the single room accomodation in Leeds. The hotel was up to the usual Malmaison standards and both the bar and the restaurant provided excellent services. However I made a mistake of booking a single room at the cost of 99 pounds. To say that the room was a cupboard was not an exaggeration, although it was equipped with all the standard fittings found in other rooms it was so small and clostrophobic. It had one very small window so high up that even standing on the bed I could not see out and the bathroom door could not be closed when sitting on the loo!

Stayed on a special deal, but had a lovely room. Modern decor, great colour scheme and fantastic bed and shower. Ate in the restaurant - very cosy, not the speediest of service but friendly, and good food

I had booked the Malmaison for a suprise for my husband and was not disappointed. The car park is literally a minutes walk from the hotel and including the hotel discount cost us £9.80 for a 24 hour stay. The check in was a quick process and was invited to select which CD's we wanted during our stay. The room itself was as I had anticipated and of a good size. The location is excellent-5 min walk to the main shopping area and good restaurants. There is a small gym containing 2 treadmills, stepper, bike and handweights adequate for a 'exercise fix'. We paid extra for the breakfast as it was not included with the cost of our room and it was well worth it-continental includes a hot drink, toast, fresh bread, pastries, a large variety of fresh fruits, cereals, yogurt, fruit juices and bottled water. There is also a cooked breakfast for any extra £3. The service at breakfast was very good and the staff very accomodating. We would definately return to the Mal and recommend it to others!
