Five seniors for lunch on a Monday. Sorry, the sausages are off. Sorry, the ham hock is off. Soup of the day in a mid market gastro pub? Leek and potato? So no five stars for the comfy but incapable Beehive. Much more than the signposted 1 mile from the A64 and with a ludicrously narrow car park entrance/exit, the prices for a Monday lunch take no account of a demand for a light bite, a diabetic regime or a small appetite. We are not all trenchermen. So two starters instead of starter and main course still came to a wincing twelve quid plus drinks. Shan't be going back.

Pre booked a table on a week night for a table of 8. Staff friendly and welcoming. Service slow. Once we had ordered food took 50 mins to arrive. Burger is good value and tasty, lamb was rough and herb crust was soggy. This place looks amazing front he revamp, something feels like it lacking. Good potential, would benefit from quicker more attentive service and more attention to detail with the food.

Turned up to be told they had ran out of food, this was at 7pm on a Sunday, we went home hungry and disappointed.
Girl behind bar wasn't helpful, after telling us there's no food she just walked off, so no drinks either.

Thank you very much for getting in touch and leaving your feedback following your recent visit to The Beehive.

I am very sorry and saddened to hear of your experience. We serve Sunday lunch from noon to 8pm every Sunday. There is no excuse for your party being told that we were not still serving at 7pm.

I can assure you that I will be thoroughly investigating what happened on the evening in question and will make sure that this never happens again.

I would be very happy to meet with you and try to resolve the matter if you wish. Please contact the restaurant and ask to speak to the manager should you wish to take me up on this.

My sincerest apologise once again.

Kind regards,

Simon

We (me, my husband, parents and children aged 8 & 10) have just visited the newly refurbished and owned Beehive in Thorner for a Sunday lunch. There was a set menu with 3 courses but we opted to have just 1 course as I had read previous reviews about the large portion sizes and we were not disappointed. 1 course is 10.95, 2 courses 14.95 and 3 courses 19.95
Choices for the main courses which apparently changes regularly were roast beef, braised lamb in rosemary and red wine, roast belly pork and crackling, or poussin all with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, vegetables, mash and a huge yorkshire pudding. There were also some other mains to choose from (duck, salmon, mushroom wellington and a vegetarian salad), 5 of us had lamb and my son chose the beef. The meat was tender and tasty, the yorkshire puds are definitely home made as are the roast potatoes (not like the manufactured type at a carvery) and the parsnips are to die for - even my husband and son ate these and they don't like parsnips! The waitress also brought us an extra jug of gravy for the table.
The staff were all extremely friendly and attentive and the service was great - not like the previous reviews I have read. The atmosphere was relaxed and there were plenty of other diners in the different dining areas.
Our total bill was £86 and this included 2 beers, 2 large red wines and 2 cokes. The waitress also brought us a jug of water with ice and lemon when we first arrived and filled this back up without us asking.
I will definitely go again for Sunday lunch and would highly recommend this to friends and family.

We hadn't been to The Beehive for a couple of years we were interested to see how the new owners were doing. Popped in late Monday lunchtime and had the Table d' Hote menu which was quite varied. The staff were pleasant and welcoming, the service was good, the food was presented very well and extremely tasty - a thoroughly enjoyable experience. 2 course meal for £15 and generous portions. Going back again next week
