“Good value, convenient for Leeds”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

I stayed here for a night November 2012. The staff at reception were courteous and efficient so check in proceeded quickly and smoothly. The room (facing the front and overlooking the car park) was spacious and comfortable with a reasonably proportioned en suite. Despite being right next to the A1 there was virtually no noise partly because the windows are sealed and double glazed partly because the room was on the opposite side of the building from the road.

I did not eat dinner in the hotel but the bar and lounge areas are comfortable and quiet and the bar offers a good selection of drinks. Breakfast was a little pricey but the quantity and quality was high so have no fears on that front.

Basically I felt that this hotel was good value for money, the staff were friendly and efficient and I would stay here again if I was in the vicinity.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms upstairs or out back some people have reported these as being noisy.

Stopped one night with my wife and found everything about this hotel
closely suited our needs; comfort, convenience, good, clean decor, and pleasant, professional manner of staff.
After a very comfortable night an excellent breakfast was available.
A specific plus for us was the provision of good, regionally produced produce!

We would heartily recommend this hotel to friends, and would try to work in a return visit next time we had rto make a similar trip..

I stayed at this Best Western Plus hotel for one night on my way home to Edinburgh. It is conveniently situated between York and Leeds a short drive from the A1(M). I've stayed in loads of BW branded hotels and most are fine but this one is simply superb.

I arrived after dark and found the large glass facia of the restaurant, bar and reception very inviting. I was checked-in efficiently and advised of catering arrangements for the evening. The reception area is beautifully fitted out with high quality furnishings, decor and lighting

My room was number 40 on the first floor, on the way up, I noted the quality of finish continued right up the stairs and along the corridors. Perhaps the most pleasant surprise was the fit and finish of the standard room. Without doubt, the best room I have been allocated for a long time. It was spotlessly clean with high quality decor and furnishings, fresh and tasteful. The bathroom had underfloor heating, full tiling and a top-notch suite. Even the crockery supplied for tea and coffee was lovely and included a teapot!
Room facilities:

-Air conditioning with climate control
-Full bathroom
-Large, extremely comfortable bed
-Flat TV
-Tea/coffee making
-Downlighters plus reading lamps
-Large mirrors
-Full bathroom with complementary
-Large windows with thick curtains

I took a drink in the bar before bed and noted the informal and relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant area. Plenty of choice of sitting areas, tables, bar stools, sofas, quiet corners and a water feature!

I slept well and wasn't disturbed by noise from inside or outside the hotel.

Breakfast was a tenner and the quality theme continued. Great layout with a choice of continental or cooked. I decided on the continental and was very happy with the food an fresh fruit on offer.

Staff at reception, the bar and restaurant were all friendly, professional and made me feel most welcome.

I booked this hotel via BW's own website. At GBP 45 it was exceptional value for money.

To sum up, an outstanding hotel in every respect - highly recommended.

The staff are very friendly and the hotel over all looks great inside and out. It has lovely rooms and me and my partner are always happy regardless which room we are in. Great location if you want to go to york and not pay york hotel prices and also great if you want to go to leeds. We always stay here when the york dragway has events as sometimes you cant beat a lovely comfortable bed. Can honestly say we are returning customers to this hotel and couldnt rate the staff high enough.
I would recommend to anyone

Visited this hotel for a party. The food was really good, disco afterwards good, service and attention from the staff was excellent. We booked to stay over and the room was superb, we had a double which was decorated and finished to a high standard, nice corner sofa and flat screen tv, speakers in the bathroom were a nice touch. Everything was spotless, lovely comfortable bed. The public areas of the hotel were also spotless and nicely decorated. We didn't stay for breakfast as we thought £12 per head a bit pricey. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The outside of the hotel doesn't really do the inside justice which is a shame because I'm sure it will put some people off (it looks a little like a Travelodge) - it is definitely worth walking through those doors.
I'm pretty sure we will be returning next year!!!

Room Tip: The Doubles are lovely with plenty of room
