“Surprising pleased with this hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

Surprisingly pleased with the hotel. I telephoned the hotel directly and was given the cheapest quote. Short walk from the railway station and town centre. Following other reviewers advice, I asked for a room at the back . I was not disturbed by any noise. Surprisingly pleased with my room, I booked a single room and was given a room with a small double (and not a single as I expected) The room was clean, comfortable and modern. All the staff were friendly, helpful and polite and breakfast was good. Would recommend this hotel ..

My Fiance and I recently stayed at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Leeds - (7th November).

Very easy to find and was literally slap bang right in the middle of where we needed to be. 5 - 10mins from train station, a little shop around the corner, pubs across the rd etc

We had no problems at check in and were allowed to pay for our room in advance to avoid any mess about with debit cards. Our room was lovely - however we walked into a sauna and immediately had to turn the radiator down and open the window. We were in room 309 overlooking the road and the malmasion opposite.

Our room was big and airy, however there was only one chair which was weird for a double room. The bathroom was lovely and even had little rubber ducks in it. No complaints there.

My only real complaint was that during the night/early hours of the morning we could literally hear every car going past and all of the noise from the road outside (including drunks). The room also became very warm during the night and we were torn between opening the window and having more noise or keeping it closed. I also seemed to be fighting for the cover all night too as it was quite a small duvet.

My fiance tried to use the Trouser Press however it wouldnt work and neither would the iron. Until the following day we somehow managed to accidentally switch it on, maybe some operating instructions would be handy for future.

Check out - again no issues, it was effortless.

Would definately stay again.

Room Tip: Stay away from main roads as it can be quite noisy from early on.

This is our third stay in this hotel, and will not be our last. It is def not one of the best hotels in Leeds, but it is in such a good postion. Withiin easy walking distance from the train station, and near all the bars and shops.

The room, was comfortable and clean, the reception area and the restuarant, have had recently been refurbished. The staff are very friendly, and attentive.
I have stayed in hotels in leeds and paid considerably more, but much prefer to stay here.

We paid extra for the breakfast, which was good.

Overall a lovely stay.

Thanks for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back of the hotel are quiter, the hotel is close to many pubs and clubs.

I booked a single room last minute, a week before I went for a night out in Leeds, online, direct with the Hotel which saved me about £20. I only stayed one night and was very impressed. The hotel is old but has a very modern Resturant. My room was comfortable not as small as I expected with a 4ft bed and the bathroom was great. Powerful shower and nice toiletries. I didn't spend much time in the hotel but all the staff I came across were very friendly. I had breakfast which was buffet type and very nice, plenty of food available on a help yourself basis with cereals and hot food. Overall I felt it was an excellent choice right in the centre of everything I wanted. I will definately use the hotel again.

Room Tip: Try booking online direct with the hotel, it was cheaper for me than using Hotel.com etc

My stay got off to a good start when the friendly staff welcomed me with a complimentary glass of wine.

The hotel is in an old building and the entrance area and nearby "library" and computer section were really warm, cosy and inviting.

The bedroom was carpeted and had wooden slat blinds and heavily lined curtains over the double glazed windows. The radiator made sure it was lovely and warm. Although the bathroom had older style tiling everything was spotlessly clean and it was nice to have a proper bath (with shower over) rather than just a shower cubicle. Not only were a bathrobe and toiletries provided but there were also plastic ducks!

The king sized bed was very comfortable and with 6 pillows you are sure to get one that is just right. There is a big screen TV with Sky satellite and tea and coffee making facilities.

Breakfast was included and this was a full English breakfast cooked to order and also buffet with juices, cereal, fruit, yoghurt and toast.

Location wise it is only a short walk to the bus and railway stations and the town centre shopping area. You are spoilt for choice of bars, clubs and restaurants all within walking distance and for a bit of quiet time you are one block away from the river with nice walks.

The rack rate is a bit high but there are plenty of deals on line.

Room Tip: If you are not in Leeds to party over the weekend then I would recommend asking for a quiet room at...
