A group of us from work stayed here as a central place for a night out.

The room as expected was above average, the whole place was clean and tidy and the staff were good.

Night staff were more than helpful when we came through the doors in the early hours.

The breakfast included in the price was also fantastic, it was busy. However, lots of choice and helpful staff who went out of their way to accomodate us.

Very central for Leeds, both by car and train.

Our family of four stayed here for five nights at the beginning of May. Hilton have this excellent arrangement where they will typically offer you a second room for your children at half the price you pay for the first room. This is not generally advertised on the website, or anywhere else for that matter, you have to ring the central reservations number and speak with them. On this occasion we ended up with two adjoining rooms on the 12th floor (recommend this as lower floors tend to get a bit noisy with the hen and stag parties at the weekend), one king double and one twin, full breakfast and two evening meals for all four of us. The cost - GBP 126.75 per night. A real bargin for a hotel of this standard.

The hotel is very central, easy walking distance under the railway bridge to the centre of Leeds with it's great shopping and clubs, pubs and restaurants. Service was very good, excellent breaktfast, small but well equipped leisure centre (with pool), evening menu is fine during the week but the set price menu at weekends was a bit plain. Rooms, as previously reported, small but they have everything you need, although the beds could be softer.

The negatives, also previously reported, are the bar prices and the car park. Be careful when parking in the car park, it's very tight, but perfectly do-able unless you have a monster truck. The worst aspect is the hotel's residents parking arrangement. They simply charge you GBP 13.50 per day instead of GBP 14.00. The problem is they attempt to charge you for the full duration of your stay, whether or not you have used the car park all the time. Unless you intend leaving your car in the car park all the time, it's probably better to pay as you go without involving the hotel. Having said that, a quick discussion with the front desk about how little I'd actually used the car park resulted in them waiving the charges altogether.

When booking, it took several phone calls both to the central reservations and to the hotel itself, to ensure that we got the correct rooms at the correct rate, but it was well worth the effort.

This hotel get five stars for value for money, four for service and breakfast and three for room size and the parking. I'd stay here again without hesitation if I can get the same bargain. Also, the Hilton chain will be the first I contact when travelling with my family. The deal with second room for children at half price is excellent and I'm surprised they don't give themselves wider publicity.

Stayed here with a group of 16 girls for a hen party weekend. The hotel is in a good location - just far enough away from the nightlife to mean all is quiet in the early hours but close enough to walk to everything. The rooms were standard Hilton hotel rooms - nice, modern and good bathroom. The breakfast was buffet style which was great for everyone. The pool was good too. The hotel seemed to have several hen and stag groups staying there and we were all grouped on the 6th floor which is a smoking floor so the room smelt disgustingly of smoke.
Provided I didn't have to stay in a smoking room, I would stay here again.

As a Hilton Honours member i was inclined to stay here on business simply to gain the Honors points despite the negative reviews. I found the hotel to be adequate, but not without issues.

My room on the 7th floor was pleasant enough, it was one of the refurbished rooms and was spacious enough for my needs with a suprisingly large lcd tv. The bathroom was typically Hilton UK - small! Again though, im here on business so i wont be spending hours lazing in the bathtub.

Check in was swift, though i had to ask for some of the basic hotel info (location of gym, bars, restaurant, breakfast etc). Check out was particularly good though, with me being asked several questions on how my stay was. The bar is pleasant enough with plenty of human traffic to keep a lone drinker amused when not reading, but the drinks prices are far too high (3.60 for a pint, 8.50 for a large wine) - this is Leeds, not London!!!

The hotel restaurant is nothing special, I wholeheartedly recommend you venture out in to Leeds and sample some of the local restaurants, there are some great Thai, Chinese and Teppanyaki restaurants in the city. I had dinner included in the rate i booked, so tested the restaurant but wont be returning, the choice is minimal and the standard of cooking was poor (chef please note - a fillet steak served rare will not cook properly unless you allow the meat to come to room temperature before cooking it - otherwise the middle will be unpleasantly cold!). If you just want basic fare, it'll tick the boxes, but I advise you go out and get a lot more quality for a similar price in the city.

As for the car park.. yes, its definitley a tight squeeze, but that is only for the ramps up and down, the bays themselves are averagely sized. Just take your time and if in doubt, reverse and try again - take your time and you'll be fine (i was in a large car so it can be done ;) )

Overall, I think a 3 out of 5 is about right... it was worse in some areas, but better in others, so it's fair. It was also good value for money when taking into account the included breakfast and dinner credit. Put it this way, I'll be staying again - but thats because I want to collect the honors points - if i wasnt an honors member, i'd probably stay at the crown plaza.

Hotel looks lovely from the outside, just what a Hilton should be like.

On checking in they didn't have a deluxe double that was booked in advance, they didn't tell me but sent me up to a twin room. I went back down to reception to get a double and the only one they had was a smoking room which I had to take.

The room was noisy as it backed onto the train station, you could hear the announcers from very early in the morning.

The bill was not adjusted and no-one seemed to care that my company paid for something that I didn't get.

The gym is nice if a little small (4 treadmills, 4 cross trainers etc) but was not very busy when I visited.

All in all a bit disappointing for a Hilton.

Dreadful hotel.
Rooms are in serious need of refurbishment.
They smelt and the noise was intolerable.
Would never stay again

The hotel is very pleasant, food excellent. However, staff are not very friendly, but the worst bit was the hotel car park. I hired a VW Passat and attempted to park my car on the 1st floor of the mulit storey. It was hideous - the car park is built for mini metro's. Other guests were having the same problem. Even for my night out at the theatre - i opted to book a taxi rather than trying to manoevre around the car park
