Stayed here at the beginning of September taking son to Leeds Met Uni - location for us was perfect as right opposite his Halls of Residence Opal 1 and so we could unpack and go in and out whenever we wanted or in his case wanted as his loo was completely out of order in the halls!
Also great for walking into town only about 10 minutes and had a lovely meal at Cafe Mia at Millenium Square.
When we checked in we were concerned as there was a large stag party obviously gearing up for fun later and were worried we would hear noise from them, however, reception said we were on the top floor a long way from the revellers and we didn't hear a thing - although we did hear a strange whirring noise all night long and only sussed out what it was when in the morning when going back down in the lift - we must have been near the lift shaft!
It was very busy when we stayed clearly a lot of people use it for uni drop off; breakfast especially getting to the coffee machine was a scrum - apart from that no complaints, the room was very clean, very comfortable beds and nice bathroom. Staff were helpful and friendly and parking very reasonable. We had been due to stay in town but were put off by the high parking rates - I would definitely recommend this hotel its reasonable, clean and easy walking distance of town....and big plus no need to negotiate city centre one way system getting in and out off motorway was easy peasy!

We stayed here for my Hen weekend, 6 girls across 3 rooms, we were in rooms next to each other which was great the hotel was spacious and clean as were the bedrooms. Pull out bed wasnt very comfy but when are they?

Buffet style full English in the morning which we were in need of after a big night out. Also other options such as cereal and yogurts.

All in all a nice hotel for this sort of trip. Would definitely return if was in the city.

I had a comfortable and quiet room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was great. The only problem was the air conditioning ... turned it off at night but the room got too hot so had to sleep with it on. And no internet in the room is a bit uncivilised although it is available in the lounge area.

Thank you for your comments and I'm sorry that you were unable to access the internet in your room during your stay. The WiFi is free in our hotel in the large Great Room bar/lounge area and is available and chargeable in the guest bedrooms.

I stayed here for one night in August 2012 on a business strip.

The hotel is maybe a 5 mins taxi ride from the train station.

As with all HIE’s the room was bright, modern and well appointed. The bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable.

The stand-out thing about my stay was the staff. They were exceptionally attentive, front desk especially. The young lady on reception (Agnes) was superb, and could not have been nicer. She was extremely helpful and efficient.

The breakfast was of a high standard for a hotel of this type. The dining area was very bright, clean, airy and welcoming.

All-in-all, a perfectly acceptable stay in a nice business chain hotel.

Recommended.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments about our hotel and I am really pleased that all my team were helpful - especially Agnes! Comments from yourself and other guests plus other feedback went towards her being awarded our Employee of the Quarter!

The hotel is slightly out of the city centre with its own car park. Modern, clean and the facilities you would expect of a HI Express.

On checking in I was told it was fully booked and my room was next to the lift but was reassured that although noisy until 9 pm it would be fine from then as one of the lifts is shut off. Not the case - the remaining lift is used continually and so was subjected to the worse night of sleep ever. Reception's response: sorry and we are aware of it. Room 707: don't sell it, definitely don't stay in it.

On a business trip (in fact on any trip) I normally refuse to stay anywhere that charges for Internet access, and in this case I will almost certainly not stay here again. Despite the hotel promoting itself as the official hotelier of the 2012 events, the fact that they charge for broadband that is not fast enough - at 240Kb (that's Kb, not Mb) it's 1/37th of the UK's average broadband speed (*average* that is, not best) - for even the basic communications services that any International visitor would expect is laughable. If you were an athlete looking to make a Skype call to your family, it would struggle for example.

For any hotel to charge for a basic amenity like that in this day and age is disgraceful, and the £9.95 charge was paid for through gritted teeth at their obvious profiteering.

Hotel was clean, staff were friendly but this business traveller will take their business elsewhere in future. Until we all do that these sharp practices will not change. I challenge the hotel to make their Internet access faster and to free rate it and I may consider bringing my business there again one day.

Hotel also quite a long walk from the train station, am sure there will be traveller friendly places to stay that are closer - I'll find them next time I visit Leeds.

Thank you for your comments and I am sorry that you were disappointed with the internet service. We do provide free Wifi suitable for light surfing/Emails etc in the Great Room on the ground floor but in common with most hotels we do make a charge for this in the hotel bedroom.

Unfortunately it is just not the same as a home system with one access point and one ADSL line and we do have monthly costs and equipment costs to actually provide the service to the guests. We are always looking to improve our internet service though and constantly checking the availability of Fibre Broadband as this offers much better speed/bandwidth but this is not currently available in our area.

Thank you once again for your comments.
