Lots to do, beautiful building, and I think I managed to catch the Lord of the Rings sword exhibition which pretty much made my week

I visited the Royal Armouries in Leeds as I had a spare day, I wasn't disappointed, in fact there is so much to see and take in you would need a good half day to cover it all, best of all it is FREE.
There are live attractions as well as displays, the live attractions include guided tours of some of the armoury that was used in combat in the days gone by. There were professional actors giving sword fight displays, on the day I went, it was the two handed long sword, display, and lasted about 20 mins.
Although it was closed on the day I visited, archery and crossbow use is available, I think for a small charge. There are some of the guided tours for groups that a small fee is charged, however you are free to walk around and see what you want in your own time.
there's a nice café on site as well as a gift shop.
The range of items on display is huge and mainly takes in the different type of weaponry, and protective armour that was used in centuries gone by and up to the present day modern soldier.

Great place, plenty to see and do you could spend a few hours here. It's in a great location. Not my cup of tea but that's a personal choice.

We went for a Wild West themed day. This museum is good anyway, but the gunfight and other activities livened it up even more. A good day out with family and friends.
