Took my mum here when she was down visiting for the Jubilee. Fantastically decorated for the occassion and plenty to do. Eceptionally good day out considering it is FREE...!

Stunning building in a canal side setting. Light & airy. There is a programme of events at weekends throughout the year with daily shows of hosting in the Tiltyard. Many staged/acted character engagements timed throughout the day. Easily spend a day here. From hunting to sci-fi and terrorism the lot is covered. Not so much about warfare - leave that to the Imperial War Museum. they have hands on knight school type activities for kids and 'living' services like blacksmiths shops. best thing it's free! Cafe downstairs and smaller counters at peak times elsewhere. fully accessible for wheelchairs too.

Well, being a Scot, I would say I liked it because it is FREE!! But there are lots of good things to see and do there, so I did actually make the requested donation - great value, too!!!! You really need two days to see it all - if not more. Everything there that you could hope for, and all contained in a beautiful light, modern building, overlooking older parts of Leeds (canals and wharves,) which have been tastefully restored. Nice outdoor seating area, too.
