We are visiting Leeds for a 2 day shopping spree for my wife's birthday, and wanted somewhere to go for z nice meal.
Thanks to previous reviews we found Ho's, and what a great find it was
Nice restaurant inside, friendly helpful staff, but best of all fantastic food
Beware the portions are very generous
We would recommend and revisit next time in Leeds

“Tasty dim sum and good value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

Like many in this area we were very disappointed when the Lucky Dragon closed, as this was a favourite lunchtime venue - either for a bowl of soup noodle while in Leeds during the week, or a feast of dim sum on a Sunday. We've tried several restaurants in the area, and while we've found several where you can get good main dishes or banquets, we had not found anywhere for good dim sum. We visit the Chinese supermarket next door, and one day decided to try the restaurant - and were delighted! It isn't particularly glamorous, but the decor is pleasant and more modern than many Chinese restaurants. Contrary to what we have read on some reviews on TA, the service has always been between pleasant and efficient and extremely friendly - with just the occasional waitress whose English is a little below adequate for the job. There is a rather bizarre ritual where the soup bowls are taken away, and then returned (when one has confirmed that you will be using chop sticks!) and you do have to ask for the dim sum menu, or at least for the one in English. This is extensive, and contains some dishes I haven't seen before. On our first visit we quickly realised that the dim sum are freshly prepared - the cheung fun wrappers are rolled sheets rather than the commercial 'tubes' you get in supermarkets. Our usual pattern is to order a reasonable number of dim sum and a plate of special chow mein or similar, and we have always been delighted with the food. We have met with friends here, and they also enjoyed the food, as have other family restaurant.
We only found this gem a few months ago, but are fast becoming regular visitors.

“Awesome. I'll deffo go back”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2013

We chose this restaurant after reading the good reviews on tripadvisor... and our only disappointment was that we didnt discover this place years ago!

The food was superb - very tasty and big portions. The prices were very good. There were many chinese people as guests (always a good sign!). The service was excellent.

This was certainly one of the best chinese restaurants we have been to in a while (we like our chinese food) - and I cant wait to go back. Definitely worth a trip.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

We went on the advice of the reviews posted here and were not disappointed. We had the £18.00 banquet and every dish was exceptional, really the best Chinese meal I have had in a long time. There was too much for the four of us so they packed what was left in boxes, Also when we explained we were going to the theater they served us very quickly. We did leave in a hurry and I forgot to tip, sorry! I hope this review makes up for it a little bit. I would thoroughly recommend.

“First visit,will definately return!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

We headed into Leeds this evening for a meal out.We didn't really have a particular place in mind.We walked from one side of town to the other and ended up on Vicar Lane, where there are a few chinese restaurants.

Initially we went in another chinese over the road, but after sitting down and being given menu's,there was an overpowering smell of cleaning products which I found unpleasant so we said thanks but no thanks.

We crossed the road and saw Ho's,never even knew it was there as I don't visit this end of town much. The restaurant is located up a flight of stairs on the first floor.Quite a contempary looking place, yet not big enough to feel impersonal.

It wasn't busy, probably 9 other diners plus us two.I chose Peking hot and sour soup followed by chicken curry and bolied rice.My partner had spring rolls followed by chicken chow mein.I have to say all of the food was of a high quality, and we both cleared our plates. The bill with 2 coffees and a bottle of beer was just under £30,very good value in my opinion.

We would not hesitate to eat here again, recommended definately!.
