“Great hotel if you can find it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

We had a great stay at the Doubletree in Leeds - the rooms are good, the views are interesting (I was able to look at Leeds City train station and do a bit of train spotting) and even though we were next to the station it was quiet.

We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and found the food was good, but the service could do with a little work, especially at breakfast. We were placed at one end of the restaurant and no-one came to take our order for tea, etc. Dinner was good and was delivered in a timely manner.

Overall the hotel is in a great place, very central to the Leeds city and we would certainly go back again when we visit family in the area.

One point to remember - if you do book and are driving make sure you get the correct postcode otherwise you wont find the hotel. We ended up going to the Hilton hotel nearby and they gave us the correct (special) postcode to get to The Doubletree.

This was a lovely hotel, room was spotless. comfy. Staff excellent. Food was ok. Not their fault, dish wasnt what i expected, was a bit pricey to find i didnt like it. Breads & starter was lush though. Location was good, bit nerve racking walking home by yourself under the tunnel area though. View was stunning overlooking the city, even more stunning watching a full blown thunderstorm in the distance getting closer :). Would definately go again.

We had eaten elsewhere and live in Leeds so this review is solely on our experience of the Sky Lounge Bar on the 13th floor. I was expecting magnificent views of Leeds City Center but unfortunately the main view looks out on south Leeds and there's nothing much there except Bridge water Place and a canal. Drinks were overpriced (it is the Hilton, I know) and the bar area was an absolute mess both behind and on the bar. I would have expected it to be spotless being the Hilton, there were enough bar staff on. No complaints about the actual bar staff, they were very friendly. Would I revisit, no - been there done that, nothing to write home about I'm afraid - Sorry.

I stayed here with my wife on the 8th & 9th of Feb for her birthday; ideally, we wanted something nice but not to expensive, in a good location and with its own on site parking...This is exactly what we got! Ticked all our boxes! Check in was quick and easy, we received a hot cookie; which I thought was a nice touch. They gave us the choice of floors and which side we overlooked. We asked for an upper floor overlooking the city...We actually overlooked a 8-10 track rail way station, not my kinda thing but it made me laugh...don't worry noise isn't an issue, unless your windows are open. The rooms were modern, the beds were comfy, the room was c/w iMac (comp & tv) inc. the sky sports package, all free view channels and various European favourites. Wifi is free. Bathroom was nice but basic and a little cramp. I used the gym a couple of times, limited choice of equipment but suited my needs i.e treadmill, cross trainer, bikes, rowing machine and various weights machines; all in good condition and well maintained

There's a nice bar opposite the hotel entrance called 'The hop', definitely worth a visit!

All in all I liked it and would recommend to anyone!

Been to Leeds many times but this hotel is by far the best! All mod cons, rooms were excellent, roof top bar amazing!! We will be coming back soon. Breakfast was not included so we popped to weather spoons on the station, top class food!

Excellent hotel, everything high standard. Rooms clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast superb and filling. Only down side was the meathead checking room key cards late at night before you could enter the lift. Not good that you have your right to be in a hotel questioned.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent.

My wife booked this hotel for my 40th birthday weekend and it didn't disappoint. On arrival we were given 2 very nice Cookies and check in lasted only a couple of minutes. The room was on the third floor and was very nice and even though it was overlooking the train station we didn't hear a sound. Apple IMac's in the room was a nice touch. The Sky lounge on the 13th Floor was very nice and resonably priced fro a city centre hotel. £9.00 for a bud and a Vodka and coke.

There are a few bars on the square which are ok. I would recommend that you get to breakfast early if you go over the weekend as when we were leaving the restaurant at 9.30 it was queuing around to the lifts and reception. Breakfast was decent enough with the usual suspects but only scrambled egg as part of the buffet but they will cook you fresh boiled, poached or a fried egg if you wish.

All in all a very pleasant hotel and we would definately stay there again in the future.
