We have stayed at the Mint Hotel twice on a 'Spring Break' basis. Excellent value and service. (Complimentary bottle of wine first time!) The lady who was checking mini bars went out of her way to bring me extra tea bags and soya milk to our room!
Only problems - found bathroom bin hadn't been emptied before we checked in but housekeeping came up and dealt with this as soon as we let them know. Overall very clean but, if really nitpicking, tables in room could have been given a wipe clean. Extra breakfast added to bill (assumed our son had just turned up for breakfast..?) No problem removing from bill.

Me and my partner went to this hotel for one night on Sat 23rd April,we stayed on the Travelzoo package which for £79 was excellent value.
We arrived at 2.30pm as it was a beautiful sunny day and we were allowed to check in,as stated 3pm,which was good and we were offered the choice of floor, high or low,we plumped for high and was allocated the 10th floor. The room was fine, small window overlooking Leeds, nice big bed, small but adequate shower/bathroom,mini bar and tv computer package with internet access etc, even 2 bathrobes which was nice.
Part of the package was 2 glasses of champagne and a sharing diish,we werent expecting to much to eat,but how wrong were we.We got 2 glasses of champagne and the choice to pick 3 starters to share all three. So we picked smoked fishcakes, lovely soft beef ribs, and a bowl of nachos and guacamole. We sat outside of the Granary Lounge and thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which if bought would ahve costt £32.
We then opted to go to the Sky Lounge for a drink, this is definetly unmissable, its on the 13th floor and has a fantastic view of Leeds and a nice balcony where we sat and took in the view and the sunshine. Its not cheap at 3.95 for a bottle of Tiger, and im old fashioned being over 50 there is no draught beer, but its not to be missed.
The breakfast was lovely,a cooked breakfast and a choice of continental to,this would be £32 if bought separate,so for £79 on the travelzooo deal we had a bargain.
Good modern hotel right next to the train station and 5 mins to pubs and restaurants.

After a long weekend in York, we headed back to Leeds for one night to be closer to the airport. Chose this hotel on Booking.com purely on price and location and honestly expected to end up in a shoebox overlooking a carpark. How wrong we were.... The room was very spacious and fabulously appointed. We were too early to book in so spent a leisurely couple of hours in the riverside restaurant/bar enjoying a bottle of wine with the Sunday papers in the glorious sunshine. We also dined in the restaurant that evening which was top notch with excellent service. All in all, a great way to finish our Easter weekend and would definitely return if in that part of the UK again (just a shame the shops were shut as the location couldn't be better for a spot of retail therapy).

Room Tip: Ask for directions at train station if on foot!!

Really like this hotel. Only marked them down on the service as it was really really poor and slow in the sky lounge bar on the 13th floor. The ground level bar beside the canal was much better service.
The rooms are very cool. Very comfortable bed. Small but functional and spotlessly clean bathroom. They are very very stingy with their white company toiletries so you have to ask them to bring more.
Imac in the room was v cool.

Stayed in the Mint (formerly City Inn) Hotel in Leeds this weekend and just got home.

Driving through Leeds is always a nightmare and finding the Mint Hotel is not and exception to the rule. If you are relying on SatNav you will probably end up on the wrong side of the canal looking at the hotel. If on the other hand you rely on the satnav to get you into the centre of Leeds then open your eyes and keep an eye out for the brown tourist signs for the hotel it is pretty straight forward.

We arrived around 11am on Thursday and got a place in the hotel car park without a hitch, but it is a first come first served basis so be warned. There are plenty of other car parks in the vicinity though. The charges for parking were quite high but for the convenience factor alone it was well worth it!

Check in was a doddle and our room was ready on arrival although they did say that rooms are not guaranteed until 3pm. Our room was like a copy of the rooms in the Mint Hotel Manchester and I dare say probably throughout the hotel chain too. Perfectly fine, spotlessly clean, imac entertainment, view of the canal basin and a shower that you won't want to get out of!

The weather was wonderful, which was even better appreciated when we had emptied our bags into the spacious wardrobe and made our way downstairs and outside sat in the City Cafe on the canal side watching the pleasure crafts negotiate the locks. Food was outstanding in there and the breakfasts are stunning too.

One must destination in the Hotel is the Skybar, which is on the 13th floor with a delightful veranda to sit out on, eat, drink and watch the world below go by. The service in the City Cafe and the Skybar were second to none, but if you are in a rush to get your cocktail there is always the option to stand at the bar and get served.

As for location this hotel is perfect. A short walk under the well lit railway bridge and you are right in the centre of Leeds, free to stroll up to the shops or along the river or to the numerous bars.

We had a brilliant time, I would thoroughly recommend the Mint Hotel and will certainly be staying there again next time we fancy a weekend away in Leeds.

Just as a sideline to this review we attended the West Yorkshire Playhouse production of Hamlet last night and thoroughly enjoyed the play and the venue!

TIPS

Ask for a room as high in the hotel as possible (to appreciate the vista) with a canal side view, unless you are a train spotter and like looking at Leeds station platforms of course.

Arrive early(ish) to ensure a parking space

Went here with my boyfriend for one night to go shopping and chill and i have to say it was a brilliant mini break. The hotel was very clean and stylish and the service was excellent, we got checked in within miniutes and was even allowed to choose what floor we wanted to be on we ended up choosing the second floor. The only slight criticism i would have is that the air con in the room is really loud but both me and my partner slept through it so couldnt have been that loud. The room even has apple imac computer and televisions which i thought was excellent considering the price to have these in every room! Having looked through many reviews i noticed that a few said the hotel was noisy but i dont agree with that at all having been on the secind floor we didnt hear any all night slept like a baby! :). The breakfast was nice too good choice of food, huge pot of tea brought to the table and even smoked salmon bagels on the menu which was a nice extra :) overall amazing stay would definately reccommend.
