Description: Queens Grill is the elegant basement restaurant of the eponymous landmark Leeds hotel. The handsome building has been a hotel since the 1930s and not that long ago had £10 million lavished on it and its art deco grandeur. Now as modern as it is classically luxurious, Queens Grill features an impressive neutral décor and dark wood parquet flooring. In an affectionate nod to the building’s heritage, the kitchen prides itself on the traditional Yorkshire dishes on its world-class Modern European menu. We love the risotto of Morecambe Bay shrimps with salmon and garden peas; herb-crusted medallions of beef with potato fondant, creamed leeks and red wine jus; and rhubarb and apple crumble served with just a spot of ‘proper’ custard

...but when you are the only one in the restaurant, its even harder. Never the best ambience to base a review on. I ordered a medium steak and I got it. It had chips and they were fine. The steak was a little tough but thats the cow's fault. Should have got out more. A couple of glasses of nice Malbec - it was all fine. Value, ok. Nice service, if a bit awkward with just the two of us in the room.

Had to queue before even getting allocted a table, then we were given a table which another couple were occupying. Choice of breakfast was not up to standard, neither was the cooked breakfast. The porridge was disgusting, had one mouthful and was nearly ill. The bacon, sausage etc was just warm, greasy and had been sat for a while.

My daughter and myself had booked afternoon tea for my mum and mum in law as a treat before taking them to see a show in Leeds. We booked it as a last minute thing and then read the reviews on Trip Advisor the reviews were not good so after the lovely afternoon we had I had to write a review. 1st The afternoon tea was lovely everything was really fresh, you could tell the sandwiches had just been made and the scones were to die for with a lovely selection of cakes, 2nd the staff were lovely very young bar staff but their customer service was really really good nothing was too much trouble and the tea and coffee just kept coming. It was a really horrible day outside the weather was foul but the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and you felt like you could have stayed all afternoon if needs be.

We went here with friends deciding on something a little different from your usual restaurant, I really have to say inside is truly stunning inside. I had the whitby crab which was just divine followed by perfectly cooked Risotto which from experience is either undercooked or overcooked, all food was perfect for us all which was just great as I had slight reservations about going. The staff were a credit to the restaurant smiling and attentive. We will absolutely be back soon!
