“Cracking pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

It's got it all, fantastic selection of beers, good wines, good food, great staff, outside seating & free bloody mary's on a Sunday!
There's even a decent quiz night once a week too. Have dinner, do the quiz & enjoy!

“Great food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013 via mobile

Very busy when we first arrived, but we soon got shown to our table. The food was delicious and the service was great. The staff couldn't do more to help, even during the Friday evening rush. Not loads of people eating, as it is a pubby pub, but the food was really tasty and did not disappoint.

“Characterful traditional pub with a twist”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

What a lovely pub! My husband has fond memories of the Adelphi from student days in Leeds in the 70's and was pleased to see that some things haven't changed - including good local beer and Rod Stewart singing in the background!

Now it's even better than 40 years ago because of the food. Not an overwhelming menu, but enough choice (mainly for carnivores) and very nicely presented meals - I could have enjoyed eating everything I saw being served! We both opted for a burger - lentil, hummus and tomato for him and beef, bacon, avocado and cheese for me. Both came with thin french fries which were ok (but if I'd known, I would have asked for skin-on chips instead) and a little pot of very nice tomatoey dip.

A good selection of ales and excellent service made it a very pleasant lunch indeed. Almost 5 stars, but it was a bit expensive at over £25 for what was essentially burger, fries and a drink each.

Hopefully we'll go again soon - 40 years is a long time to wait between visits!

“Better than great pub food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

A very traditional pub inside - reminiscent of a good-old fashioned city centre boozer. But times have changed and this area of Leeds has definitely been on the up and the food served in the Adelphi is something else. Not a full blown restaurant and not silver-service but if you want decent, straightforward meals that are original and extremely well prepared, this is the place for you. The major draw back is that parking nearby is hard to come by since building work has now started on the old Sovereign Street car park.
