Description: Walk through the big Victorian doors and prepare to be wooed by this popular Leeds local. Sumptuous period touches combined with contemporary flourishes and a diverse clientele create a friendly, alternative vibe that tempts people back again and again. As Tetley Brewery's original flagship pub, The Adelphi has impeccable cask ale credentials, with a great selection of three local and two guest ales that rotate weekly - and four individually decked out rooms in which to savour them. Plus we've always got something up our sleeve to keep you entertained.

This pub has a real old fashioned rustic charm about the place. Great relaxing atmosphere and the food is top quality home cooked grub. I would highly recommend the cheese burger with pulled pork it's the best in Leeds. The Saturday brunch and Sunday roast menu is also excellent.

The pub and clientele has a hint of the up-themselves Leeds attitude, that sort of unattractive arrogance as if it's the centre of the universe, rather than just a well-refurbished old pub. That is the off-putting aspect of what is otherwise a desirable place to go.

The food itself is generally of consistent quality, again not worth shouting from the rooftops, it's just reasonably tasty and won't let you down. The Fish and Chips at least is worth the money, lightly battered and very fresh. Although not a truly expensive place for pub food, it's priced so you never feel like you sneaked even one penny of value. In the day time you can usually get seated but after 7pm or so, forget it.

There is usually a good selection of drinks, although they could rotate the tapped lager a little bit more, and the prices for soft drinks are extortionate.

If the pub was more concerned with being welcoming rather than self-regarding, it would be exceptional. Unfortunately it buys in to the cliquey hipster idea that anyone not fitting in to their image of the place must be frowned at and looked down on.

This is my second time at the Adelphi and I have to say, it's one of the reasons I visited Leeds again! Brilliant and friendly service and fantastic food all round. If you're in Leeds, it's a place not to be missed.

love the adelphi for a hungover, comfort eating Sunday Roast.

A proper pub with proper grub. Ate here a few times and only once felt like it was an off day. All in all, where better to sup a pint of quality ale and chomp on a hearty roast beef (with lush creamy leeks!).

Yes!
