This place doesn't look much, but the staff were good & the food was really nice. Everything was well presented and we had a very homely Tex-Mex dinner. Pleasantly surprised.

Visited quite late on a busy Saturday evening. From the outside the restaurant is quite unassuming, but one look at the menu was all that was needed to make us cross the threshold and find out more. As a family of vegetarians we were really pleased to see so much choice; so much so that we all had something different from each other but also different from the usual choices we are faced when looking for veggie Mexican food :-)

Despite it being busy, the two really friendly staff who served us made us feel very welcome and they were both very attentive. No problem with the pace of serving either. The nacho starter came out nice and quickly and was perfect for sharing between the three of us. They were also probably the tastiest nachos we've ever had. Main courses were equally fantastic and they were rounded off by the most sublime sharing brownie dessert... mmm!

Brilliant meal. Thanks everyone at Caliente Café, we will definitely be back!

We had heard good reviews about this restaurant, especially about the food which we were told is always cooked fresh. We were also warned however that the service is the not the quickest and to plan to be there for the evening. We were told this was due to there being just one person in the kitchen who freshly prepares all the dishes to order.

It was a Friday night and we turned up at around 20:00 having not made a reservation. Not a problem, as we were shown to an available table. There was a mixture of couples, small groups and a fairly large group in at the time. The restaurant looks a bit tired from the outside, and it is certainly the same once you step inside. It could do with a general spruce up, but some people will say that adds to the charm of the place. Although there were plenty of people in chatting away to each other, there appeared to be no background music on, or not the first hour that we were there at least. The waiting staff were friendly and polite, and came over with our menus a minute or so after we had arrived. We started with a bottle of Mexican lager each whilst we looked at the menu. We also ordered a bottle of house red to have with the meal. The menu had plenty of choice with all the usual Tex Mex favourites available. We opted for a cooked starter each and a main. We had nearly finished the bottle of wine by the time the starter had arrived. We were told to expect this though by friends so we weren't too surprised. The food was lovely and I cannot fault it. Don't be expecting any fancy presentation though.

All in all we had a nice meal and really enjoyed our food. I would recommend going along so long as you know you may be waiting a short while for your food. Not a problem if there are a few of you in a group and you've plenty to catch up on.
