It was easy to find very close to the centre and with ample parking. We were welcolmed by friendly hosts (stand ins as the owners were away). Assistance was offered with luggage and we were shown to our room, Sanctuary Spa, with a quick guide of where things were and if need be how they worked. Despite a well stocked hospitality tray our host offered us a drink and brought freshly brewed coffee and tea with biscuits (this was complimentary).

The room is a little small but was full of charachter, clean and tastefully decorated. There was also an LCD TV and decent Ipod compatible stereo The bathroom was well fitted, modern and also clean. There was an outdoor area with spa which some may see as an expensive gimmick but we enjoyed it. There was complimentary sherry and bottled water along with a delection of hot drinks, quality biscuits and fruit.

We ate out in the town (would recommend The Fleece) and arrived back reasonably early. The lounge area was comfortable, relaxing and warm with real fire. There was a well stocked bar however we enjoyed the cafetiere coffee which was good. Prior to retiring we fancied a glass of port but there wasn't any. Our hosts stated they would find some and duly appeared with two generous glasses of quality port.

Our night was disturbed by a leak in the room. This was inclement weather rather than fault. We were able to raise the hosts who moved us to another room.

The disturbance did spoil the night somewhat however our hosts were appolegetic. The next morning we were served complimentary champagne at breakfast. The breakfast was first rate with farm shop quality. One of the best for a B&B.

On checking out along with further apology we were presented with a money off voucher for our inconvenience.

The grounds seemed pleasant however would better suit a summer stay.

So to sum up - welcolmed from the start, quality standard, comfortable, willingness to make up for problems and a great breakfast.

We stayed for 2 nights as a base for walking in the Dales National Park. From the minute we arrived to the time we left, the hotel and staff oozed discrete service and made us feel very welcome. We stayed one night in the Secret Garden and one in Amos Ingham's room with a luxury pack on the first night .. the champagne was excellent, chocolates to die for, huge delicious strawberries and lovely flowers. The rooms are very comfortable and well thought out. The breakfasts deserve their reputation! We ate out on the second night at the New Zealand restaurant with the unpronouncable name which was very good with some excellent wines. The Dales are very accessible and we were blessed with 3 fantastic Autumn days. We even managed some Christmas shopping before we left; The Cheese Place is well worth a visit. This was a real find and we will certainly return at the next available opportunity.

we stayed in one of the hot tub rooms for two nights following our wedding. On arrival a very friendly Ray grreted us and showed us to our room.He explained where everything was and showed us how to use the hot tub and sauna. We had a leather bpund folder with all sorts of information in it, and also a guide to local restaurants. The hot tub was sensational even in the pouring rain!!!! although the room was slightly small it was perfectly comfortable. The lounge area with its roaring fire was beautiful and breakfast was lovely, all in all this was a lovely guesthouse with that something extra special, i would not hesitate to recommend to anybody and hope to return

Coming from the North East and meeting friends from Birmingham, this was the perfect half way house, and what a house it proved to be. Both rooms were fantastic, as was the living room complete with roaring fire and the breafast room with lovely views over the hills. We were especially grateful to Karen for her Yorshire banter and providing an afternoon tea that you could only dream about. The sense of freedom evident in the provision of an honesty bar helps to promte a very relaxing environment. Worth every penny, in fact we've already booked again for next year. Thank you to everyone involved.
