Reviewed April 8, 2013

The Old White Lion is situated at the top end of what most visitors would consider the main street of Haworth. It is a 17/18th century building which has kept much of it's charm.
Our room (room 4) was quite small for a double room, but was very clean and comfortable. I wouldn't want to stay in that room for more than the one night, so maybe try and choose a larger room if you can. The facilities in the room were fine, with a small selection of biscuits, tea, coffee and drinking chocolate.
The shower room was, typically for the room, very small indeed but this should not detract from the overall quality of the hotel. Friendly staff and a quiet location in spite of the public bar below and also another pub across the road. The cooked breakfasts were very generous, and good quality with ingredients sourced locally as much as possible.
I would recommend this hotel, but ideally if you are there for a few nights I would try and get a larger room.

Room Tip: If making a telephone booking, ask for a larger room than 4. Front facing room will get the sunrise.

We have stayed here a few times over the years and always love to come back. It had been quite a while, so we were pleasantly surprised to find that not much had changed. Still the same great hospitality and warm friendliness from all of the staff. Still the great food at great prices and most importantly the same willingness to put the guests needs first.

After a horrendous night's sleep on our first night, due to the loudest snorer I have ever heard next door, we were quickly and efficiently moved from room 9 ( terrific views over the countryside ) into room 6 overlooking the cobbled street.

We love this place and can't wait to return.

Just returned from a 1 night stay. The view from the room was excellent (9). Clean comfortable room. bar areas ok shame all the open fires have been replaced. Would have provided more atmosphere. Generally staff friendly but the bar man. Didn't talk to anyone! Food was good but too quick from starter to main. I thought the breakfast was very good with a great selection.

Having read the reviews I was expecting something special ......what I got was an ok hotel that is in sertious need of a re-vamp. decor and furnishings in the bedroom (8) somewhat dated and a little frayed around the edges. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean though. We chose to eat in the bar on the first night....my venison was good however my partners rib eye was awful....presentation & quality of the dish was poor. Our waitress was lovely....but she did seem rushed off of her feet. We decided to give the restaurant one more try the next......I opted for the traditional roast beef........what a disappointment, the beef was overcooked an as tough as "old boots". One final point.....breakfast was nothing special........not impressed by the written description of one of the choices as a (and I quote) a "heart attack on a plate".......distasteful to say the least!! The final icing on the cake was being overcharged...good chob I checked the bill before paying!!!

Thanks for your review I am sorry to hear we were not up to your expectations, everybody has their opinions yours just has the opposite to the majority of our guests the visit. We are sorry for the overcharge this was an innocent mistake made by another guest mistakenly thinking they were in room 8, Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Just returned from a 3 night break, once again a very happy experience. Good food, friendly staff, spotless room. The food just gets better & better, the breakfast set us up for our walk to Top Withens. Our meal taken in the Gimmerton restaurant was top quality and good value for money.

Stayed at this very nice hotel for a six night break recently. 10/10 in all departments from check - in to departure. Room no 1 was clean & comfortable and the window had a good view out over the Worth Valley (& paradise - otherwise known as the Keighley & Worth Valley steam railway!). Special mention must go to the Gimmerton Restaurant - ambience perfect & the food & presention & service of it excellent, the three course evening meal - menu changes monthly - being very good value. The a la carte menu took enjoyment of nice food to a new level. Go there & enjoy but take the whole evening to do this & then retire to your room for the night, the following mornings breakfasts are 'traditional Yorkshire' & will set you up for the day.

Room Tip: Room 1 for views out over the Worth Valley.

Sent two nights at the old white lion. I wish we had booked longer. It is situated ideally for Bronte visiting with the Parsonage just around the corner. The hotel is immaculately clean ,the food is excellent and the breakfast is to Hilton standard. Most of all the service is one of the best ,from being greeted on our arrival by Beckie at reception and Clare at the Bar. Both these ladies assisted us with our itinerary with our many questions. Nothing was too much trouble. We even got a discount at the Parsonage. Thanks to you all. John & Maggie.
