In Short, the rooms were well equipped and were more than we expected from a room in a pub and the downstairs of the pub had a good atmosphere and served a good pint.
On one of the evenings we ate there, and I was delighted to see rabbit on the menu, which in all had a good variety of decent pub food. The food wasn't overly expensive with a couple of main course meals under £10, but I wouldn't say it was cheap. We had good service from the cheery waitress, and the fireplace was a welcome feature to dry us off from the weathering we had endured walking that day.
I was surprised to see all the negative comments in the other review, but we heard that the pub recently had a change of management. Indeed, we could hear the people downstairs when it was busy, but it wasn't a big problem and it didn't prevent us from sleeping easily in the comfortable bed.
Also, we noticed that they had obtained a 5 star health rating which was of course a good reassurance!
We are planning to stay here again for the 1940's weekend next year, we haven't been before, but it seems good fun.
If you are up in this area, you should definitely consider staying in this inn.More
